The work of Al-Khidmat started with the inception of Pakistan, when thousands of families were driven out of their homes and villages without food, shelter or security. The Al-Khidmat Foundation had spread its network into most parts of East and West Pakistan as early as 1951. At that time, very few relief and welfare organizations were working across East and West Pakistan. The Al-Khidmat Foundation took its present name and form in 1992 and was registered with the Government of Pakistan as an NGO under the Societies ACT XXI of 1860.
