An academic seminar # The Big puff Debate # arranged by Pulmonology department under supervision of Dr Waqas Afzal HOD pulmonology.
Hosting done by Dr jannat ul mawa consultant pulmonologist very professionally.After intro Note first lecture was delivered by dr Nadeem Akhtar sab FCPS Pulmonology on smoking cessation and second lecture was Brilliantly delivered by SR Dr Shehxad Rana on Va**ng Cessation.Both of lectures were very professional and take home messages given to the audience.After lectures Question and Answer sessation was done betweem pulmo team and the audience followed by Closing remarks by Worthy Medical Superitendant Dr Azhar abbas Naqvi sab and shiled distributions done among the Pulmonology team and to the Pannel of Experts
Special Thanks to Dr Tahir Ch sab HOD medicine and Allied for coming with full team and being expert specialist.
More than 60 Drs and staffs participated from ENT,General Medicine,Peadiatrics, Eye dept and from administration as well
A successful seminar done by help of administration on Smoking and vapping cessation and it helped us to improve the knowledge of the drs and Abated the confusions related to the topic

Pulmonology dept.Under the leadership of Dr @⁨Waqas Afzal Bhai⁩ sab always kept pace in acad3mic activities.Previously we had many many lectures and gathered drs of various departments and taught them pulmonology and provided awareness on chest diseases.
This Time a Trend and innovative initiative take by team pulmonology Nishtar 2 as directed by our HOD " Multidisciplinary Academic Trend" ( MAT) a new interactive trend in which HOD and specialist Drs of other fields are invited to deliver lectures on the topics of mutual interest imvoling drs from both the departments as well as paramedics.This il bring the new wave of Academic excellency and il improve the patient care at Nishtar 02.
Today our invitation was accepted by @⁨Dr. Kamran Shafie Ortho⁩ Sab HOD orthopeadics and he briallanty enlightened the drs with topic of " Tuberculous Osteomyelitis"
After lecture a cross disscusion was held and queries asked and replied by eachother.It was very informative sessation and drs felt enthusiastic and enthraled to priticipate again and again in such activities.
We as Unit Of pulmonology p are humbled and pay homage to the Skilled dr @⁨Dr. Kamran Shafie Ortho⁩ sab for sparing time for this soulful cause.

60 years old male never smoker.Diagnosed with pericardial effusion and multiple pleural masses.His pericardial effusion was tapped out e pigtail draib and was lymphocytic exudate e raised ADA2 levels.CT chest showed pleural bases mass leision and thickened ring around the heart.
Decision made for POCUS guided biopsy of anterior mass leision which was done by dr.waqas afzal AP pulmonology,SR dr rana Shahzad,Dr nadeem akhtar sab and supportive staff.
03 slices from the leision taken and sent for HP,IHC and G xpert,Post procedure x ray taken no penumothorax and any new development seen and pt kept for 24 hours for observation.
15 days later report came ad given under as Thymoma type B.
Pt reffered to Oncologist for further management.
Pulmonology dept Nishtar 02 is the only centre in South Punjab to do usg guided lung mass biopsies e 100%Accuray and 100% yield.

A 50 years gentleman diabetic case had 02 seprate empyema collections once on posterior side and other on left anterior side in the 3rd ICS.Posterior collection was drained after POCUS e large bore drain.Plan for anterior collection was to involve thorasic surgeon due to dangerous location of collection .But due to over burden of Nishtar 01 Thorasic surgery ward is was not done.We decided to do POCUS again and there was 07 cm deep puss collection below 2nd and 03rd rib.after confirmation of puss e diagnosic tap a blue drain placed in 03rd ICS and gross puss drained 500 ml at the spot.Drain fixed and drainage set attached e 03 way cannula.This was bit risky due to left location near the heart but much needed as culture was positive for Staph aureus and this action significantly reduced his septic burden and improved chances of antibiotic penetration.Pt is stable post procedure and post procedure CXR done to confirm drain location.
Alhamdulillah pulmo dept Nishtar-II, Tertiary Care Hospital, Multan is doing wonders like always and fecilitating the diseased humanity e best outcomes.

Point of care Ultrasound chest done today At procedure room by assistant professor Dr Waqas Afzal HOD along with dr Irfan Raza And dr Shehxad Rana
First case A young male with rt upper lobe mass,Biopsy was planned after CECT chest and pt is admitted in ward.
2nd case 56 years old female having probable mitotic leisions on x ray ,SOB ,cough on lying down and BP was 90/60 with muffled heart sounds and there was sudden fiding of Large pericardial effusion with rt heart compromise Cardiac Temponaude was there and patient urgently reffered to Cardiac ER for a Pig tail catheter placement
Alhamdulillah pt is stable and further mamagement is planned
