yet everything it gave
came wrapped in goodbye.

Faces fade.
Voices dissolve into memory.
Even the strongest hands
slip away with time.

So I smile..
not because it doesn’t hurt,
but because I finally understand

Nothing here was meant to stay.

We are travelers
resting briefly
between two eternities.

This world is a waiting room,
decorated beautifully
to distract us from departure.

And pain?
Pain is the reminder
that attachment belongs to dust,
but the soul belongs elsewhere.

So I smile gently at my losses,
as the sunset smiles
while surrendering to the night….
