Case Presentation!!!

G.A is a 70 - year- old transtibial amputee secondary to Diabetes. He underwent the amputation 6 months ago.

Examination Findings:

On examination, G.A is Left sided Transtibial amputee at proximal level with significant Hallux Deformity and plantar diabetic ulceration on Right Foot. Residual Limb has distally adhered scar with redundant tissues. There is knee flexion tendency upto 10 degree due to improper placing/positioning of residual limb with phantom limb sensations. However muscle strength is normal.

● Case Presentation!!!

A 24 years old patient visited our center for active complaint of ankle pain on both sides.
We came to know that he had a road accident in 2010 and after that he was on bed for 3 years.

O/E we observed flexible cavovarus foot deformity on both sides (left more severe than right side). He had sensory impairment on lateral sides of his legs and feet. AROM was limited at ankle with partial A/P & M/L instability.

Successfully milestone achieved!!!!

H/O RTA 7 years ago and using Rigid AFO for ambulation without any proper alignment and compensation against his leg shortening.
On examination there is Leg length discrepancy upto 4 cm with Limited ROM at Right Ankle. There was fresh wound on lateral plantar surface i.e painful as well.

Treated with Rigid AFO initially compensation upto 2 cm for adaptation and use to purpose and should be gradually increased near to normal height.

Alignment and balancing reduce energy consumption.
