PMDC’s Cruel and Unjust Policy Against Foreign Medical Graduates
The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab strongly condemns the unjust, non-transparent, and discriminatory policies of PMDC against Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs).
YDA Punjab has stepped into the field against this cruelty and injustice.
President YDA Punjab, Dr. Shoaib Niazi, has openly spoken against these anti-student policies.
Our Key Demands and Observations:
1. Transparency in NRE-1 Results
PMDC must immediately publish the complete NRE-1 result PDF provided by NUMS and display individual marks of every student who appeared in the exam.
• Students must be informed of:
• Their total marks
• Percentage obtained
• Passing criteria (whether simple 60% or scaled/engulf method of 70–75%)
• This transparency will reveal the true passing ratio to the entire nation.
2. Policies Must Be Implemented Prospectively, Not Retrospectively
PMDC has wrongfully applied the policy of three consecutive attempts retrospectively.
• Students who passed NRE-1 but were later declared failed due to this new policy must be allowed to appear in NRE-2 immediately.
• Policies must always apply to future candidates, not to those already in the system.
3. Unjust Delisting of Foreign Medical Universities
PMDC has delisted several foreign medical universities that were:
• Previously recognized by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) after three years of evaluation
• Fully recognized by WHO, WDOMS (WSMD), and WFME
Now PMDC demands USD 10,000 from each university for “reconsideration,” which is unjustified and exploitative.
4. Double Standards of PMDC
Graduates from these so-called “delisted” universities are currently serving as Assistant Professors and consultants in Pakistan.
• If the universities are unrecognized today, how were their graduates allowed to serve in Pakistan’s medical system?
• This reflects policy inconsistency and institutional hypocrisy.
5. Demand for ProMetric Examination System
President YDA Punjab Dr. Shoaib Niazi demands that:
• PMDC must sign a contract with ProMetric, a globally recognized examination body
• ProMetric conducts exams every two weeks, ensuring fairness, transparency, and timely opportunities for candidates.
6. Ultimatum on Result Disclosure
Dr. Shoaib Niazi has clearly stated:
• PMDC must release complete marks of all NRE candidates within one week
• If PMDC fails to take this issue seriously, he will personally lead Foreign Medical Graduates to protest in front of PMDC.
7. Appeal to the Highest Authorities of Pakistan
YDA Punjab makes a humble but firm appeal to:
• Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif
• President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari
To take strict notice of this PMDC mafia that is destroying the careers of young doctors.
YDA Punjab has been closely observing these injustices for the last six years.
We strongly urge the competent authorities to immediately mandate PMDC to contract ProMetric for the betterment of Foreign Medical Graduates.
