SINCE JUNE 2014, CfSDG's TEAMS HAVE BEEN WORKING THROUGHOUT IRAQ TO HELP MORE THAN 3.4 MILLION INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDPS) FORCED FROM THEIR HOMES BY THE ISLAMIC STATE (ISIL) INVASION IN THE NORTH AND WEST. When disaster strikes, people are driven from their homes. They lose loved ones, face violence and torture, experience hunger and thirst. They lose their livelihoods, their houses and their access to basic facilities. Focusing on women and children, we serve refugees, internally displaced people and other underserved communities. We are careful to include those living outside of camps in all of our response efforts, as these groups are often the most vulnerable and miss out on the large-scale international responses that tend to target camps. CfSDG's provides these groups with access to clean water, food, sanitation, medical treatment, shelter, blankets and clothing. We are committed to working with these groups on a long-term basis until assistance is no longer required. HEALTHCARE

Good public health is vital to the long-term development of any local community. Without this approach, social and economic development is restricted and human suffering continues unabated. This leads to reliance on international aid and assistance. CfSDG's delivers public and primary healthcare to populations in need to break this cycle and set the conditions for communities to flourish. We work in partnership with existing state health services to improve and expand the skills and quality of existing health care provision, augmenting it where required and helping to raise standards to those set by the World Health Organization. We also provide extensive training to local healthcare professionals and managers, and provide the resources and knowledge base required to deliver lasting improvements to the quality of care available. We deliver our health programmes without the use of any expensive Western personnel on the ground. Instead we make use of high quality Iraqi professionals who are able to not only deliver the required outcomes, but also make sure that any activity undertaken is both culturally appropriate and intimately connected to the community it serves. We believe education forms the backbone for developing communities throughout the world. High quality learning provides immediate improvements to the lives of the local population and allows the economy to flourish over the long term into something much more substantial and robust. Education program's also form an anchor for communities which have few other resources. Learning creates a more optimistic and less conflict-prone atmosphere. For children, CfSDG's does this by supplementing the existing school classes, while for adults we provide academic and vocational training courses which enable beneficiaries to gain practical skills and develop their knowledge to find work or start their own businesses.
