A captivating workshop, titled "Demystifying Cochlear Implants and the Importance of Post-Surgery Hearing Rehabilitation," was recently held at the Department of Psychology, University of Peshawar. The event featured the esteemed Madam Noreen Ishfaq, a distinguished expert in the field, who shared her wealth of knowledge with the attendees.
Madam Noreen, an Austrian Certified Hearing Rehabilitator (Med-El PCHR), holds impressive credentials, including her role as a Speech and Language Pathologist (RIU), the Vice President of the KP Speech and Hearing Alliance Pakistan (SHAP), and the CEO of the Cochlear Implant Speech Therapy Centre in Peshawar.
The workshop commenced with a touching recitation of the Holy Quran, presented through a video of a child with autism reciting the verses, which was followed by the national anthem, setting a profound tone for the event.
Professor Dr. Erum Irshad, chairperson Department of Psychology, warmly welcomed the participants and extended a special greeting to the guest speaker, Madam Noreen Ishfaq.
Madam Noreen’s presentation was both insightful and engaging. She expertly demystified the complexities surrounding cochlear implants and emphasized the critical role of post-surgery hearing rehabilitation. Drawing from her extensive experience, she shared compelling case studies that illustrated the transformative impact of cochlear implants on patients’ lives. The audience, eager to learn, engaged in a dynamic discussion, asking thoughtful questions and delving deeper into the subject matter.
As the session concluded, Professor Dr. Erum Irshad and Madam Noreen Ishfaq took a moment to recognize the participants' enthusiasm and dedication. Certificates of participation were presented to all attendees in recognition of their engagement. In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, Professor Dr. Erum Irshad also presented Madam Noreen Ishfaq with a commemorative shield. The participants were presented with certificates.
The event was a resounding success, leaving participants with a deeper understanding of cochlear implants and the importance of ongoing hearing rehabilitation, thanks to the expertise and generosity of Madam Noreen Ishfaq.
