Two-Day Leadership Workshop Held to Nurture Faith-Inspired Leadership and Communication Skills
A two-day Leadership Workshop, organized by the Department of Tarbiyyah, Riphah International University, Peshawar Campus, at Peshawar Medical College (PMC), concluded successfully with a renewed commitment to fostering professional environments guided by ethical and spiritual values for the betterment of humanity.
The event featured renowned speakers and interactive sessions that emphasized the integration of Islamic values within academic and healthcare institutions.
Dr. M***i Yahya delivered a thought-provoking session on “Halal and Haram in the Organizational Context,” highlighting the importance of ethical decision-making and the application of Islamic principles in day-to-day professional conduct.
Prof. Dr. Hafeez Ur Rahman, Dean of Peshawar Medical College, spoke on “Leadership in a Faith-Inspired Academic and Healthcare Institution.” He emphasized the significance of values-based leadership rooted in integrity, service, and accountability,particularly in faith-centered settings.
Prof. Dr. Najibul Haq conducted an engaging session on “Communication Skills,” stressing how effective communication can enhance social interactions, transform attitudes, and contribute to a more successful and balanced life.
Participants also took part in group discussions on diverse themes related to leadership, personal development, and ethical challenges in the workplace. These discussions encouraged critical thinking, collaborative learning, and self-reflection among attendees. Group recommendations were presented by Forqan, Prof. Dr. Irfan, and Prof. Dr. Saeed Anwar.Souvenirs were awarded to the resource persons in appreciation of their valuable contributions.

Abdul Latif Khan Gandapur, the Head of the Tarbiyyah Department at RIU Peshawar, praised the enthusiasm of participants of the leadership workshop.
The workshop concluded with a collective pledge from participants to implement the insights gained in their respective professional environments, thereby advancing the institution’s mission of excellence through ethical and spiritual commitment.

The Department of Tarbiyyah at Riphah International University, Peshawar Campus, inaugurated the two-day Summer Tarbiyyah 2025, Leadership Track on Friday, aiming to cultivate values-driven leadership among the institutional and administrative teams of the university.
The workshop brought together key academic leaders, administrators and experts for a thoughtfully designed program combining plenary sessions and interactive group discussions to explore contemporary leadership challenges through the lens of Islamic values, ethical governance, and institutional vision.
Dr. Umar Farooq, Director of Riphah International University, Lahore Campus, opened the session by presenting a framework for a model higher education institution. He emphasized the multi-dimensional parameters that define a successful academic environment , including academic excellence, character development, service orientation and institutional sustainability.
He was followed by Mr. Hifz-ur-Rehman, former Secretary, Local Government, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who delivered an insightful talk on aligning institutional governance with ethical principles, highlighting practical strategies to promote accountability, transparency, and value-based decision-making in both corporate and academic institutions.
Engaging group discussions were facilitated by a distinguished panel including Dr. Umar Farooq, Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rahman, Mr. Hifz-ur-Rehman, and Prof. Dr. Zahoor Swati. These sessions allowed participants to critically analyze current institutional practices and propose innovative recommendations aligned with the day’s theme.
At the conclusion of the group work, Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rahman and Prof. Dr. Tayab presented the consolidated group recommendations, offering a reflective and forward-looking roadmap for implementing ethical and faith-centered leadership practices within the institution.
Dr. Abdul Latif Khan Ghandapur, Head of the Tarbiyyah Department, highlighted the aims and objectives of the Tarbiyyah initiative, emphasizing the importance of effective management practices.
The program’s overall coordination and stage management were led by Prof. Dr. Saeed Anwar, ensuring smooth conduct and active engagement throughout the day.

Health experts emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, preventive measures and adopting an interdisciplinary approach to effectively combat blood-borne diseases.
These insights were shared during a national one-day symposium on hematology titled “Essentials of Hematology,” jointly organized by Riphah International University and the Pakistan Bone Marrow Transplantation (PBMT) Society at Peshawar Medical College. The event brought together leading experts from across Pakistan to discuss key hematological conditions and best practices in patient care.
The symposium commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Dr. Ayesha Abdullah, Vice Dean of Peshawar Medical College.
The scientific sessions began with a presentation on Thalassemia Prevention by Dr. Mehreen Ali Khan from the Armed Forces Bone Marrow Transplant Centre (AFBMTC), Rawalpindi. This was followed by a talk on Thrombocytopenia in Pregnancy by Dr. Munira Borhany of Ziauddin Hospital, Karachi. A comprehensive discussion session was moderated by Dr. Shahtaj Khan of Rehman Medical College, with panelists including Dr. Mehreen, Dr. Munira, Dr. Ayesha Iftikhar (Shifa International Hospital) and Dr. Maryam Khan (AFBMTC).
Dr. Khalil ur Rehman (PATHWEL, Rawalpindi) addressed the critical issue of blood transfusion decisions in medical and surgical settings. Dr. Aisha Jamal from NIBD, Karachi, spoke on Thromboprophylaxis in Surgery. Their talks were followed by a panel discussion featuring Dr. Natasha Ali (AKU, Karachi), Dr. Saima Humayoon Toor, Dr. Sumaira Abbas, and experts from PMC.
The final session covered the management of acute leukemia in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Dr. Maryam Khan shared insights into supportive care pathways for bone marrow failure, followed by Maj. Gen. (R) Parvez Ahmed, who presented outcomes of bone marrow transplants in Pakistan. The closing panel discussion featured distinguished experts including Dr. (Brig.) Syed Kamran Mahmood, Dr. Nighat Shahbaz, Dr. Raheel Iftikhar, and Dr. Maryam Khan. Dr. Ashraf Khan (PMC) and Dr. Fazl-e-Raziq also spoke at the session. Dr. Uzma Rahim served as the stage organizer.
The symposium concluded with closing remarks and presentation of souvenirs by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aman Safi, Principal of Peshawar Medical College. The event provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and advocacy for improved hematological care in the region.
