A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp arrange at Quaid e Azam Degree College Faqirabad Peshwer.

The Regional Blood Centre Peshawar conducted a hands-on training workshop on “immunohaematology and quality control in blood banking”. The workshop was attended by laboratory technologists and haematologists from Regional Blood Centres (RBCs) and Hospital Blood Banks (HBBs). The theoretical lectures were delivered by Brig. (R) Prof. Javaid Usman, Dr. Usman Waheed, Dr. Akhlaaq Wazeer, Dr. Noor e Saba, while the practical session was facilitated by the technical team from the Sind Medical Stores, the official distributors of Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc, in Pakistan.

The main aim of the training course was to provide hands-on training to the participants in updated standard immunohaematology techniques. The technical session of the workshop commenced with lectures on ABO, Rh, minor blood group systems and cross-matching. This was followed by a bench exercise in the preparation of cell suspensions, blood grouping by tube technique and grading of agglutination reactions. The participants also performed blood groups through the gel card technique. Reverse grouping was also performed by every participant. Later in the day, cross-matching was performed by both tube and gel card techniques. This was followed by lectures on important aspects of quality control such as QC of antiseras, QC of blood components, and QC of TTI screening.
