A meeting was held at the Health Secretariat with the Honorable Advisor to the Chief Minister for Health, Mr. Ihtesham Khan Advocate, to discuss starting a dedicated Thalassemia Treatment Section at the Regional Blood Centre (RBC), Hayatabad, Peshawar.

🩸 The RBC team, led by Dr. Adnan Reayat (Manager RBC), with Dr. Iqbal Muhammad (Chief Clinical Technologist) and the Marketing Team, was joined by representatives from The Blood Heroes, Jihad for Zero Thalassemia, parents of thalassemia children, and the President of the Haemophilia Society of Pakistan.

🔴 The discussion focused on the growing number of thalassemia cases across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the urgent need for action. Strategies were shared to address this challenge through early screening, community awareness campaigns, accessible treatment services, and stronger health policies that support both thalassemia and haemophilia patients.

Everyone present reaffirmed their commitment to work side-by-side with the Health Department to provide better care for thalassemia children, support their families, and ensure safe, quality blood transfusion services—building a healthier and more hopeful future for our communities.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed between Dr. Adnan Reyat, Manager of the Regional Blood Center (RBC) Peshawar, and Mr. Mohsin Hassan, General Secretary of The Blood Heroes.

This collaboration aims to facilitate patients—especially those suffering from Thalassemia and Hemophilia—by organizing voluntary blood donation camps and awareness sessions.

Both parties have pledged to work hand-in-hand for the noble cause of saving lives through timely and safe blood donations.

A message on ocassion of blood camp at doctor hostle Khyber teaching hospital peshawar to the doctors and health care professional:- Blood Donation:
A Lifesaving Act That Begins With Us

Blood products are essential in every hospital ward and operating theatre. Unlike medicines that can be manufactured, blood can only come from generous volunteer donors. In most developed countries, the majority of blood donations are voluntary. As a result, patients and their families do not have to bear the additional burden of finding donors during critical moments.

Unfortunately, in Pakistan, voluntary blood donation accounts for less than 1% of the total donations. This means that in over 99% of cases, attendants of patients are forced to search desperately for donors while their loved ones lie in hospital beds, often fighting for their lives.

The Regional Blood Centre is working toward two core goals:

Increasing voluntary blood donation, and

Ensuring the safety of every blood transfusion.

We are steadily moving in the right direction, but to achieve the vision where no patient’s family has to bring a donor to the hospital, we need the support of all doctors and healthcare professionals.

I urge my colleagues to lead by example. A single unit of donated blood can be separated into four components—saving up to four lives. If you are a healthy eligible donor, you can donate once every three months and potentially save 16 lives in a year.

The true value of a donated blood bag is often invisible to the donor—but it is everything to:

A husband watching his wife struggle in a labor room,

A father waiting anxiously outside the OT where his son is after an accident,

A mother whose thalassemic child is gasping for breath,

Or a woman whose haemophilic son is bleeding uncontrollably.

They understand the worth of every drop.

Let’s be the reason someone gets a second chance at life.
Let’s donate blood—because heroes wear white coats too.

Team Jehad For Zero Thalassemia (JZT) Pakistan met with Dr. Adnan Reyat, Manager RBC Peshawar, to strengthen efforts in Thalassemia prevention, awareness, and patient care. Together, we can make a difference.

The Regional Blood Centre (RBC) Peshawar successfully conducted a voluntary blood donation camp at Quaid-e-Azam Degree College, Peshawar, in collaboration with the college administration and the dedicated support of Principal Mr. Naveed Khan. Despite challenging circumstances, the event turned out to be highly impactful, with enthusiastic participation from students. Notably, Principal Mr. Naveed Khan set a remarkable example by being the first to donate blood himself.

The camp’s success was the result of the collective efforts of RBC’s committed team, including Social Organizers Mr. Fawad Khattak and Mr. Amin Jan Marwat, Donor Motivator Hassan Gul, nursing staff members Nida Ali, Mr. Ihtesham, and Mr. Kifayat Ullah Khan, all working under the able supervision of Dr. Sundas. Their teamwork, professionalism, and motivation ensured a smooth and productive event.

At the conclusion of the camp, RBC Peshawar’s management and marketing team expressed heartfelt gratitude to Principal Mr. Naveed Khan for his unwavering cooperation, hospitality, and commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation among youth.

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, a seminar was held at the North-West School of Medicine (NWSM), Peshawar, organized by the Blood Wing of DAEIM Society. The event was coordinated by Mr. Muhammad Fahad Zaheer (Coordinator, DAEIM) and Mr. Muhammad Talha (Sub-Coordinator, DAEIM).

The primary objective of the seminar was to raise awareness about blood donation and its health benefits. The seminar was graced by the presence of Dr. Adnan Reyat, the Worthy Manager of Regional Blood Centre (RBC), who also conducted a short demonstration on RBC activities, highlighting the center’s pivotal role in safe and voluntary blood donation.

In addition, Mr. Abdur Rehman, Donor Motivator at RBC, delivered an informative lecture emphasizing the importance of blood donation, the impact it has on saving lives, and the benefits for donors.

As a token of appreciation, Mr. Abid Hussain (Principal NWSM) presented shields to Dr. Adnan Reyat and Mr. Abdur Rehman for their valuable contributions and dedication to the cause of voluntary blood donation.

The event successfully met its goal of motivating students and participants to become regular blood donors, contributing to a healthier and more compassionate society.
