Northwest General Hospital and Research Centre, in collaboration with Northwest College of Nursing, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Session for the students and faculty of NWIHS, NWCN, NWSM, and staff of NWGH.
The session was graced by Dr. Afroz Mushtaq, Consultant Breast Surgeon at SKMCH Peshawar, as the Chief Guest, who shared valuable insights on breast self-examination and prevention. Dr. Shandana Khan, HoD Radiology NWGH, highlighted the importance of early detection, while Ms. Sidra Aziz, Faculty NWCN, presented an informative talk on breast cancer awareness.
Dr. Amir Khan, Principal NWSM, and Dr. Col (R) Bakhtiyar delivered the closing remarks, appreciating the efforts of the organizers and participants. Syed Yousaf Shah, Principal NWCN, opened the session with a welcome address.
The students of NWCN also presented an impactful skit promoting awareness about early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Mr. Muhammad Adil Abid is an emerging molecular biology researcher and an enthusiastic medical laboratory scientist shaping the future of diagnostic excellence. He completed his BS in Medical Laboratory Technology from the Northwest Institute of Health Sciences (affiliated with KMU), followed by an MPhil in Molecular Biology from Islamia College University Peshawar. His postgraduate research, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Ilyas, focused on familial neuromuscular disordersโ€”leading to the identification of a novel variant of the IQSEC2 gene associated with neurodevelopmental disorders, marking an important scientific contribution.
He possesses advanced analytical capabilities with strong command over R programming for data analysis and visualization. Alongside multiple certifications in research methodologies, he holds extensive expertise in systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
Mr. Adil has four published research papers, including a Q1 category publication, with a cumulative Impact Factor of 6.5, and three more systematic reviews and meta-analyses currently underway.
Beyond academics, he has actively contributed to student development and campus culture through his roles in several institutional committees and societies, including the Literary Society, Recreational Committee, and Grievances Committee. He has also served as Secretary (Male) of the Sports Club at NWIHS.
Known for his academic rigor, research passion, and leadership skills, Mr. Adil continues to inspire students and elevate the standards of medical laboratory science education.

The Department of Respiratory Therapy & Intensive Care, Northwest Institute of Health Sciences, Peshawar, successfully hosted a hands-on First Aid workshop, conducted by the Rescue 1122 Training Team, in celebration of International Respiratory Care Week 2025.
The Rescue 1122 team delivered an engaging and practical training session, focusing on life-saving skills such as CPR, choking, wound management, and basic trauma care. The interactive session equipped participants with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations.
