Department of Pharmacy, LRH MTI Hospital Pharmacy is a department in hospital, responsible for the provision of pharmacy services to patients.

Hospital Pharmacy Department being an integral component of the Health care Delivery team catering diversified professional duties in the management of the Patient care & treatment keeping a close liaison with stake holders, both clinical & managerial of the Hospital
The department flow chain is governed by professionally competent, legally qualified pharmacists who directly supervises and ensures the correct dispensing, and distribution of medication to in and out-patients, assisted by Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy helpers.

The Department of Pharmacy Services , LRH Peshawar successfully conducted a (CPC) on the topic:
*“Therapeutic Challenges and Rational Pharmacotherapy in Multi-Drug Resistant Infections: A Case-Based Approach"*

The session was chaired by the Associate Dean PGME and was attended by a large number of multidisciplinary faculty and clinical staff.

Dr. Syed Anwar Shah, Pharmacist and Pharmacovigilance Focal Person LRH-MTI, presented a comprehensive case-based discussion on MDR infection management, emphasizing evidence-based therapy, local resistance patterns, and the role of clinical pharmacists in stewardship.
The session was acknowledged as a fruitful academic interaction and a model for interdepartmental collaboration.

The Associate Dean PGME appreciated the Pharmacy Department for initiating such clinically relevant academic engagements and declared the session a benchmark of clinical-pharmacy integration at LRH.

This CPC represents a strong step forward in the hospital’s mission to promote rational pharmacotherapy, optimize patient outcomes, and strengthen pharmacy-led clinical leadership across all departments.

⁉️ Did you know that tuberculosis (TB) is the world’s deadliest infectious disease?

⚠️ About a quarter of the global population is estimated to have been infected with TB bacteria, but most people will not develop the disease. In 2023, TB was responsible for 1.25 million deaths worldwide.

Key facts about TB:

🦠 Caused by bacteria that mainly affects the lungs
🗣 Spreads through the air when infected people cough, sneeze or spit
🤒 Symptoms include cough, fever, and weight loss
💉 It is preventable and curable
💊 It is treated with antibiotics

TB exists in all countries and age groups, but low- and middle-income regions are most affected.

Global efforts have saved 79 million lives since 2000! But we must do more to end TB by 2030.

Department of Pharmacy services, LRH MTI stands out as the leading public sector hospital in the region, boasting the highest number of pharmacists dedicated to serving the largest tertiary healthcare setting. Pharmacists of LRH-MTl have pioneered the implementation of the CPOE system in public sector, medication labeling, and medication dispensing focusing at reducing medication errors and enhancing clinical pharmacy services. The recent MOU between the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khyber Medical University and the Department of Pharmacy Services, LRH MTI Peshawar marks a significant milestone. This agreement under the leading role of Brig.
