RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS (RA) – DON’T IGNORE THE SIGNS!
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the joints, causing pain, swelling, stiffness, and even deformity over time. Unlike osteoarthritis, RA can affect people of any age and often impacts both sides of the body symmetrically — especially the hands, wrists, and knees.
🧬 What happens in RA?
The immune system targets the joint lining (synovium), triggering inflammation that can erode bone, damage cartilage, and deform joints if left untreated.
🩺 Common symptoms include:
* Joint pain and tenderness
* Morning stiffness lasting more than 30 minutes
* Swollen, warm joints
* Fatigue, low-grade fever, and weight loss
💡 Early diagnosis and timely treatment can slow disease progression, protect joint function, and improve quality of life.
Treatment often includes:
✔️ Anti-inflammatory and DMARD medications
✔️ Physical therapy and regular exercise
✔️ Lifestyle changes and joint protection techniques
✔️ In some cases, surgery
📢 Don’t wait for symptoms to worsen. If you or someone you know is experiencing joint discomfort, consult a doctor immediately.
