Pitting edema is a clinical sign where pressing the swollen area leaves a pit or indentation. This mnemonic PITTED helps remember the main causes of pitting edema:
P — Protein loss (Nephrotic Syndrome / Low Albumin)
I — Venous Insufficiency
T — Thrombosis (Localized Edema)
T — Thyroid Disease (Hypothyroidism)
E — Edema in Congestive Heart Failure
D — Drugs such as Calcium Channel Blockers
This is useful for medical students, physiotherapy students, nursing students, and healthcare professionals learning clinical assessment and signs of edema.

Median Nerve – Intrinsic Hand Muscles (LOAF)

The median nerve innervates important intrinsic hand muscles responsible for thumb movements and fine motor skills.
Use the mnemonic LOAF to remember them easily:

✔ Lateral two lumbricals
✔ Opponens pollicis
✔ Adductor pollicis brevis
✔ Flexor pollicis brevis

Damage to the median nerve can impair thumb opposition and precision grip, commonly seen in conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome.

What Is Iliopsoas Tendinopathy?
Iliopsoas tendinopathy is a painful overuse condition involving the iliopsoas tendon—a key hip flexor formed by the psoas major and iliacus muscles.
This muscle group connects the spine and pelvis to the femur and plays a vital role in walking, running, and posture.

Commonly seen in athletes, office workers, and individuals with prolonged sitting habits.
Early diagnosis and physiotherapy intervention help reduce pain and restore normal hip function.

📘 BARTON’S FRACTURE – Quick and Simple Breakdown
A Barton’s fracture is an intra-articular distal radius fracture that occurs with radiocarpal joint dislocation. Understanding the difference between dorsal and volar Barton’s fractures is crucial for accurate assessment and management, especially in trauma and sports injury cases.
This post explains each type with visuals to make learning easier for physiotherapy students, medical practitioners, and anyone studying musculoskeletal injuries.

Torticollis (Wry Neck) occurs when the neck muscles contract involuntarily, causing the head to tilt or rotate to one side.
It affects cervical alignment, limits movement, and may be caused by:
✔ Muscle spasm
✔ Poor posture
✔ Sudden neck movement
✔ Cervical strain

This post shows the difference between a normal neck and laterocollis, where the head shifts toward the shoulder.
If you’re experiencing neck stiffness or difficulty turning your head, early physiotherapy can help restore full movement and reduce pain.

Nerve compression is more common than we realize — and it can cause persistent back pain, tingling, numbness, or reduced mobility.
From disc herniation and spinal stenosis to poor posture, weak core muscles, and prolonged sitting, many daily habits can add pressure on the spinal nerves.

Understanding what causes nerve compression is the first step toward preventing it.
With proper assessment, corrective exercises, and posture awareness, you can significantly reduce pain and protect your spine long-term.

If you or someone you know struggles with back or nerve pain, this post can help them understand what’s really going on.

What Is Charcot Foot?
Charcot Foot is a serious, progressive condition that affects the bones, joints, and soft tissues of the foot—most commonly seen in people with diabetes or peripheral neuropathy.
Because sensation is reduced, patients often don’t realize their foot is collapsing until severe deformity occurs.

If not treated early, Charcot Foot can lead to:
• Joint collapse
• Severe deformity
• High risk of foot ulcers
• Possible amputation

Early diagnosis, offloading, and proper management are essential to prevent lifelong disability.
