💌 “I’ve had quite a few DMs asking about the different types of pimple patches, are they all the same?”

Let’s break it down 👇

✨ Hydrocolloid-Only Patches

- Act like little sponges 🧽 as they absorb pus, oil, and fluid

- Create a clean, protective barrier

- Best for: red or popped pimples that need to heal

- Pros: simple, gentle, safe for sensitive skin

- Cons: don’t actively fight acne-causing bacteria or inflammation

🧪 Medicated Patches (with salicylic acid, niacinamide, or tea tree oil)

- Do everything hydrocolloid patches do ✅

- Plus deliver acne-fighting ingredients directly to the spot

- Best for: inflamed pimples or ones that are just forming

- Pros: can speed up healing + reduce inflammation

- Cons: may be a bit irritating if skin is sensitive

⚠️ Note: Neither type treats the underlying causes of acne. They’re helpful for occasional spots, but for frequent breakouts, you’ll need a full acne routine (cleansers, retinoids, prescription care etc., if needed).

✨ Pimple Patches: Tiny Stickers, Big Relief ✨

Pimple patches (hydrocolloid patches) are thin, clear stickers placed directly on pimples. They work by drawing out oil, pus, and fluid while shielding the spot from bacteria and picking.

🔍 Best for:
✔️ Red, inflamed, or recently popped pimples
❌ Not effective for deep cystic acne, blackheads, or widespread breakouts

🛡️ Benefits:

Speeds up healing

Reduces redness & swelling

Prevents touching & picking

Creates a protective barrier (even under makeup)

🧪 Extra boost: Some patches contain salicylic acid, niacinamide, or tea tree oil for added acne-fighting power.

⚠️ Pimple patches are great for spot treatment but don’t address the root causes of acne. For frequent or severe breakouts, a consistent skincare routine or prescription treatment may be needed.

🟤 Becker’s Naevus: More Than Just a Patch 🟤

Becker’s naevus is a benign birthmark that often appears in adolescence, usually as a brown patch on the upper chest, shoulder, or back. What makes it unique is that it may also develop excess hair (hypertrichosis) within the patch — though in some people, it remains smooth and hairless.

🔍 Usually appears around puberty, more common in males
🧬 Thought to be driven by hormonal influences (androgen sensitivity)
🩺 Harmless, but may cause cosmetic concern
🧖🏽‍♀️ Treatment is optional: laser hair removal or pigment-reducing lasers can help if desired

📌 Remember: Becker’s naevus is not contagious, not cancerous, and not dangerous. It’s simply a visible sign of how our skin responds to hormonal and developmental cues.

🩸PRP for Hair🩸
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy harnesses your own blood’s growth factors to stimulate dormant hair follicles, improve scalp health, and encourage stronger, thicker hair growth, naturally.

🔍 Strengthens hair from the root, reducing breakage and fall
🧬 Promotes new hair growth by activating follicle stem cells
💆‍♀️ Improves scalp circulation and nutrient delivery
⏳ Best results with a series of sessions, supported by healthy hair care

📌 PRP is not a transplant. It’s your body’s own regenerative power, working to restore what’s already yours.

🧬 Pigmentary Mosaicism: When Skin Follows Genetic Blueprints 🧬
Pigmentary mosaicism presents as streaks, swirls, or patches of lighter or darker skin, often tracing Blaschko’s lines which are invisible pathways laid down during embryonic development. These patterns reflect underlying genetic mosaicism.

🔍 Visible from birth or early life, often without symptoms
🧠 Most cases are benign, but some may be linked to neurological or systemic issues
🩺 Management is mainly supportive. Evaluation rules out associated syndromes and guides cosmetic options

📌 Not all pigmentation patterns are due to vitiligo or sun damage. Some are embedded in our DNA from day one.

🧬 Hypomelanosis of Ito (HI): A Rare Skin Mosaicism 🧬
Hypomelanosis of Ito is a neurocutaneous disorder characterized by whorled or streaky hypopigmented patches, often following the lines of Blaschko. These patterns reflect genetic mosaicism—when different cell lines exist within the same individual.

🔍 Often noticed at birth or early childhood
🧠 May be associated with neurological or musculoskeletal symptoms in some cases
🧴 Diagnosis is clinical, but dermatologist evaluation is key for proper guidance and management

📌 Remember: Not all skin discoloration is due to vitiligo—some cases are genetic or mosaic in nature. A thorough exam can help rule out other causes.
