*RECURRENT MISCARRIAGES*
Recurrent miscarriages, also known as recurrent pregnancy loss, refer to the occurrence of two or more consecutive miscarriages before 20 weeks of gestation.
It's a distressing experience for individuals or couples trying to conceive, often requiring medical evaluation to determine underlying causes and appropriate management.

Main causes of recurrent miscarriages are :
1. Genetic abnormalities in any one partner like balanced translocations.
2. Chromosomal abnormalities
3. Hormonal issues
4. Cevical incompetance: also known as cervical insufficiency, is a condition where the cervix begins to dilate and efface (thin) before a pregnancy reaches full term, often leading to premature birth or pregnancy loss. It can sometimes be treated with interventions like cerclage (a stitch placed around the cervix) to help support the cervix and prevent premature opening.
5. Maternal age (above 35 )
6. Maternal health
7. Infections : Certain infections including rubella or listeria can affect pregnancy.
8. Lifestyle : which includes smoking ,alcohol consumption and drugs .
9. Physical trauma

Patients with recurrent miscarriages should take extra care of their health (mental and physical health)
and should consult their gynaecologist for treatment.

*What is MISCARRIAGE ?*
Miscarriage, also known as spontaneous abortion, is the loss of a pregnancy before the 20th week. It's incidence is about 10-20% of known pregnancies.
Causes :
While often the exact cause of a miscarriage isn't identified, several factors can contribute to it
1. Genetic Abnormalities
2. Chromosomal abnormalities in the embryo account for about 50% of miscarriages
3. Hormonal Issues: Imbalances in hormones, such as progesterone, can impact pregnancy viability.
4. Maternal Health Conditions: Conditions like uncontrolled diabetes, thyroid disorders, high blood pressure and autoimmune diseases can increase the risk.
5. Infections: Certain infections, including rubella or listeria, can affect pregnancy.
6. Lifestyle Factors: Smoking, alcohol use, and illicit drug use can raise the risk.
7. Age: The risk of miscarriage increases with maternal age, especially after 35 years.
8. Physical Trauma: Severe injury or trauma can lead to miscarriage.

*Symptoms of a miscarriage can include*
1. Vaginal Bleeding: This can range from light spotting to heavy bleeding.
2. Abdominal Pain o or Cramping: Often similar to menstrual cramps, but can be more intense.
3. Discharge: Passing tissue or clot-like material from the va**na.

Diagnosis :If a miscarriage is suspected, several diagnostic methods may be used:
1. Ultrasound: To check for fetal heartbeat and development.
2. Blood Tests: To measure levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and progesterone.
3. Pelvic Exam: To assess the state of the cervix and check for bleeding.

*Exercises during Pregnancy*
Exercise during pregnancy can have numerous benefits for both the mother and the baby. During pregnancy, it's important for mothers to engage in safe and appropriate exercises that support their changing bodies. Some recommended exercises include:

1. Walking: A simple and effective way to stay active during pregnancy, providing cardiovascular benefits without putting too much strain on the joints.
2. Swimming: Water exercises are gentle on the joints and can help relieve swelling and discomfort.
3. Prenatal yoga: Yoga poses designed specifically for pregnant women can help improve flexibility, strength, and relaxation.
4. Low-impact aerobics: Classes tailored for pregnant women can provide a safe and effective workout.
5. Pelvic floor exercises (Kegels): Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles can help support the weight of the growing uterus and prepare for childbirth.

For the baby, it can lead to a healthier birth weight, improved cardiovascular health, and possibly even better brain development.
Additionally, babies born to mothers who exercise during pregnancy may have lower fat mass and a reduced risk of developing chronic diseases later in life.
For mothers ,It can help improve mood, reduce discomfort, promote better sleep, and increase energy levels. Additionally, regular exercise during pregnancy can help prepare the body for labor and delivery by strengthening muscles and improving endurance.
It's crucial for pregnant women to listen to their bodies, avoid exercises that cause discomfort or strain, and consult with their healthcare provider before starting any exercise regimen.

*HOW MANY MINIMUM ULTRASOUNDS ARE REQUIRED DURING 9 MONTHS OF PREGNANCY*

The number of ultrasounds performed during pregnancy can vary depending on the healthcare provider, the specific needs of the pregnancy, and the presence of any complications. However, there are general guidelines:
1. First Trimester (Weeks 0-13) Dating Ultrasound:
Typically done around 8-12 weeks to confirm the pregnancy, estimate the due date, and check for multiple pregnancies.
2. Second Trimester (Weeks 14-26):Anatomy Scan: Usually performed between 18-22 weeks. This detailed ultrasound checks the baby's growth and development, looks for any congenital anomalies, and evaluates the placenta and amniotic fluid.
3. Third Trimester (Weeks 27-40):Growth Scan:
Not always routine, but may be done if there are concerns about the baby's growth, position, or if there are complications such as gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, or a previous pregnancy with complications.

Always consult with a healthcare provider to determine the appropriate number and timing of ultrasounds for your specific pregnancy.

*IS ULTRASOUND CONSIDERED SAFE IN PREGNANCY ?*
Yes, ultrasound is generally considered safe in pregnancy.
It uses sound waves to create images of the baby, placenta, and other structures within the uterus, and does not involve radiation, making it a non-invasive and safe procedure for both the mother and the developing fetus.
However, it's recommended to use ultrasound only when medically necessary and performed by trained healthcare professionals to ensure its safety and effectiveness.

Always consult with a healthcare provider to determine the appropriate schedule for ultrasounds based on individual health and pregnancy progress.

ROLE OF VITAMIN D IN
FERTILITY AND PREGNANCY.

Vitamin D is a nutrient you need for good health. It helps your body absorb calcium, one of the main building blocks for strong bones.
Not only this,
observational studies show that vitamin D deficiency is a risk marker for reduced fertility and various adverse pregnancy outcomes and is associated with a low vitamin D content of breast milk.
Both male and female vitamin D levels play a role in fertility and affect the outcomes of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Moreover, fertility and IVF indicators are improved by vitamin D not only in healthy women but in those diagnosed with PCOS.
