An enabler in the family can unintentionally worsen an addiction by covering up the problem, making excuses, or providing emotional or financial support that allows the addictive behaviour to continue. Understanding these patterns is the first step toward real healing. Families must learn to set healthy boundaries, seek professional guidance, and support the patient’s recovery journey without enabling the addiction. Awareness and early intervention can change the entire recovery path.
