About Myself

As a mental health professional I am devoted to promotion of mental health care Pakistan. I have been trained at Institute of Psychiatry (IOP) Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi , which is one of the finest training places in the country. It provides mental health services to a large section of underserved population and is also a WHO regional collaborating center. I have had experience of working in adult, child and old age psychiatry. I was also able to gain valuable experience in managing patients with drug abuse and patients confined to prisons. Liaison with other fields of medicine was an essential part of clinical training. Since gaining fellowship from CPSP, I am currently working as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Al Nafees Medical college and Hospital, Islamabad. I have been teaching Behavioural Sciences and Psychiatry to medical undergraduates and post graduate residents. My clinical work revolves around practicing ethical and scientific methods help people deal with mental health problems. I have had an opportunity to work with people affected by psycho trauma due to warfare and displacements.

Pursuit for excellence landed me at Centre of biomedical ethics and culture CBEC (SIUT) Karachi. Its Pakistan's first ever institute of teaching/training biomedical ethics and is the only WHO collaborating center for biomedical ethics in the EMRO region. I have been able to gain a world of experience and expertise in perpetuating the cause of Bio-medical Ethics in the country. It has enabled me to have a global view of intricacies involved in research and healthcare.
