Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of five conditions—high blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, high triglyceride levels, and low HDL (good) cholesterol levels—that increase your risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.

Causes

The exact cause of metabolic syndrome is unknown, but it is thought to be related to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Some of the risk factors for metabolic syndrome include:

Obesity
Family history of metabolic syndrome or other chronic diseases
Age over 40
Physical inactivity
Unhealthy diet
Insulin resistance
Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS)
Symptoms

Many people with metabolic syndrome do not have any symptoms, which is why it is important to get regular checkups from your doctor. If you do have symptoms, they may include:

High blood pressure
High blood sugar
Excess body fat around the waist

Low HDL (good) cholesterol levels
Fatigue
Difficulty sleeping

Here are a few tips for preventing asthma attacks during the winter season:

-Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth when you breathe. This will help to warm the air before you breathe it in.

-Avoid exercising outdoors in cold weather. If you must exercise outdoors, warm up indoors first and take breaks often.

-Stay inside as much as possible during cold weather. If you have to go outside, try to stay in areas that are sheltered from the wind. Also take into account that Dengue is still there till it gets really cold.

-Avoid triggers. Common asthma triggers include smoke, dust, pollen, and pet dander. Take steps to avoid these triggers in your home and at work.

-Take your medications as prescribed. Don't stop taking your medications even if you're feeling better.

-Monitor your symptoms. If your symptoms are getting worse, see your doctor right away.

-Get a flu shot. The flu can trigger asthma attacks, so it's important to get vaccinated every year.

-Wash your hands often. This will help to prevent the spread of germs that can trigger asthma attacks.

-By following these tips, you can help to prevent asthma attacks and stay healthy during the winter season.

Also very important to think before it hits. If you have asthma, it's important to have an asthma action plan in place.

This plan should outline what to do if you have an asthma attack. Talk to your doctor about creating an asthma action plan for you.

Medical Care

Advice for doctors
• Do not blame the sick for being sick.
• Seek to discover your patient’s wishes and comply with them.
• Learn.
• Work for your patients, not your consultant.
• Respect opinions.
• Treat a patient, not a disease.
• Admit a person, not a diagnosis.
• Spend time with the bereaved; help them to shed tears.
• Give the patient (and yourself) time: for questions, to reflect, and to allow healing.
• Give patients the benefit of the doubt.
• Be optimistic.
• Be kind to yourself: you are not an inexhaustible resource.
• Question your conscience.
• Tell the truth.
• Recognize that the scientific approach may be finite, but experience and empathy
are limitless.
