World Mental Health Day, 10 October 2023

“Our minds, our rights"

World Mental Health Day 2023 is an opportunity for people and communities to unite behind the theme "Mental health is a universal human right” to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right.

Mental health is a basic human right for all people. Everyone, whoever and wherever they are, has a right to the highest attainable standard of mental health. This includes the right to be protected from mental health risks, the right to available, accessible, acceptable, and good quality care, and the right to liberty, independence and inclusion in the community.

Good mental health is vital to our overall health and well-being. Yet one in eight people globally are living with mental health conditions, which can impact their physical health, their well-being, how they connect with others, and their livelihoods. Mental health conditions are also affecting an increasing number of adolescents and young people.

Having a mental health condition should never be a reason to deprive a person of their human rights or to exclude them from decisions about their own health. Yet all over the world, people with mental health conditions continue to experience a wide range of human rights violations. Many are excluded from community life and discriminated against, while many more cannot access the mental health care they need or can only access care that violates their human rights.” to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right.

Someone graduated at 22, but had to wait 5 years to get a good job;

Someone became a great businessman at 25 and died at 50.

Meanwhile, another person became manager at 50 and lived to 90 with health.

Someone remains single while someone else is getting married;
President Obama ended political life at 55
And Donald Trump started at 70
All of us in this world work based on our time zone;

People around you may appear to be in front of you;
Some may appear to be behind you, but everyone is running in their own race within their time;

Don't underestimate them or belittle them.
They're in their time zone, and you're in yours.

Life boils down to each of us waiting for their right moment to act.

Then relax! You're not early or late.

You're on time!

Childhood Emotional Neglect!

Childhood emotional neglect is a failure of parents or caregivers to respond to a child’s emotional needs. This type of neglect can have long-term consequences as well as short-term.

One example of emotional neglect is a child who tells their parent they’re sad about a friend at school. The parent brushes it off as a childhood game instead of listening and helping the child cope. Over time, the child begins to learn that their emotional needs are not important. They stop seeking support.

How does emotional neglect affect children?
The most common symptoms of emotional neglect in children include:
•Depression
•Anxiety
•Apathy
•Failure to thrive
•Hyperactivity
•Aggression
•Developmental delays
•Low self-esteem
•Substance misuse
•Withdrawing from friends and activities
•Appearing uncaring or indifferent
•Showing emotional closeness or intimacy

What is the treatment for the effects of childhood neglect?
•Therapy
•Family Therapy
•Parenting Classes

▪️ Parents Duty to be Emotionally Supportive!
Being a parent doesn't only make you responsible for fulfilling your child's financial needs but it's also your duty to emotionally support your children as a parent.
A Child isn't ready to face the world in his early years on his own, he needs someone by his side to meet his emotional needs & No one can play that role better than parents.
Childhood Emotional neglect doesn't get vanished as a person grows up but the adverse effects of that neglect always stays in an individual's personality.

Be Your Children's Best Emotional Support! 🌸

"According to Psychologists, there are four types of Intelligence:

1) Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
2) Emotional Quotient (EQ)
3) Social Quotient (SQ)
4) Adversity Quotient (AQ)

1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ): this is the measure of your level of comprehension. You need IQ to solve maths, memorize things, and recall lessons.

2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): this is the measure of your ability to maintain peace with others, keep to time, be responsible, be honest, respect boundaries, be humble, genuine and considerate.

3. Social Quotient (SQ): this is the measure of your ability to build a network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.

People that have higher EQ and SQ tend to go further in life than those with a high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize on improving IQ levels while EQ and SQ are played down.

A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.

Your EQ represents your Character, while your SQ represents your Charisma. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs, especially your EQ and SQ.

Now there is a 4th one, a new paradigm:

4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ): The measure of your ability to go through a rough patch in life, and come out of it without losing your mind.

When faced with troubles, AQ determines who will give up, who will abandon their family, and who will consider su***de.

Parents please expose your children to other areas of life than just Academics. They should adore manual labour (never use work as a form of punishment), Sports and Arts.

Develop their IQ, as well as their EQ, SQ and AQ. They should become multifaceted human beings able to do things independently of their parents.

Finally, do not prepare the road for your children. Prepare your children for the road."

Hold the mother, not the baby.⁣

Because the baby’s being taken care of—⁣
fed, snuggled, and given all the love in the world—⁣
by not only the mother,⁣
but her partner, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and friends.⁣

But the mother,⁣
may have gaps in her mind from lack of sleep,⁣
may be mechanical in her motions as she’s healing,⁣
may feel more like a mess than a mother,⁣
may be sitting in bed, crying, feeling overwhelmed in her body and life,⁣
may be full of mom guilt because in her mind, "she's not good enough,"⁣
and she’s bleeding, wincing in pain, swollen and emotional.⁣

And the mother’s that baby's whole world and needs to be seen, so she doesn't disappear into that postpartum fog.⁣

So, hold the mother, not the baby.⁣

A mother agrees that her baby matters more.⁣
But she’s hurting, while she’s the person behind the baby,⁣
in the background, making it all happen:⁣
feeding her baby at all hours,⁣
snuggling her baby close to comfort newborn cries,⁣
and being that baby’s everything.⁣

So, it’s the mother who needs your love.⁣

And a mother will remember who held her up.⁣

So instead of “I’m coming to see the baby,”⁣
try saying, “I’m coming to see you 𝘢𝘯𝘥 meet the baby, too.”⁣

Because the mother needs to be held more.⁣

"Living is not merely going to the office, or passing examinations, or having children, or the everlasting struggle for bread and butter; that is only part of it. Living also implies seeing the trees, the sunlight on the river, a bird on the wing, the moon through the clouds; it is to be aware of smiles and tears, of turmoils and anxieties; it is to know love, to be gentle, compassionate, and to perceive the extraordinary depth and width of existence."

“When you love someone, they become a part of who you are. They're in everything you do. They're in the air you breathe and the water you drink and the blood in your veins. Their touch stays on your skin and their voice stays in your ears and their thoughts stay in your mind. You know their dreams because their nightmares pierce your heart and their good dreams are your dreams too. And you don't think they're perfect, but you know their flaws, the deep-down truth of them, and the shadows of all their secrets, and they don't frighten you away; in fact you love them more for it, because you don't want perfect. You want them.”
