Did you know that the misuse or overuse of antibiotics can lead to drug resistance? Without effective antibiotics, we will lose our ability to treat common infections like pneumonia. Learn how to use these life-saving medications responsibly:

💊 Know when antibiotics work. Antibiotics don't work on viruses such as cold and flu, or runny noses even if the mucus is yellow or green.

🚫 Never demand an antibiotic or take drugs not prescribed to you. Don't take antibiotics prescribed for someone else; this may delay the best treatment for you, make you even sicker, or cause side effects.

➡️ Follow directions. If antibiotics are prescribed to you, complete the full course (even if you're feeling better!) unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

📢 Spread the word! Taking antibiotics when they are not needed accelerates antimicrobial resistance, one of the biggest threats to global health.
