1. Baker’s cyst (popliteal cyst) is a fluid-filled swelling that develops behind the knee.
2. It occurs due to accumulation of synovial fluid in the popliteal bursa, often linked with joint disorders like arthritis or meniscal tears.
3. The cyst causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in the back of the knee, especially during movement.
4. It may rupture, leading to fluid leakage into the calf and mimicking deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
5. Treatment includes addressing the underlying joint disease, aspiration, corticosteroid injection, or surgery if persistent.

To improve your calf muscles, incorporate exercises like standing, single-leg, and seated calf raises into your routine, gradually increasing weight or repetitions. Other effective methods include dynamic exercises like jumping rope or box jumps, and performing calf raises with a full range of motion, focusing on the stretched position at the bottom of the movement, especially for overall strength gains.
