🌷Spring Field Trip: UC Berkeley Tamarkoz DeCal Class Visits MTO Berkeley 🌷 On April 10th, students from UC Berkeley’s Tamarkoz®️ DeCal course visited the MTO Berkeley Center as part of their semester. While the students regularly attend Tamarkoz classes on campus, this visit marked their first time experiencing the practice at the center itself. They were welcomed with a brief introduction, followed by a guided meditation session and an introduction to Dhikr, the Sufi practice of remembrance, accompanied by live Daf (frame drum). Students shared their gratitude for the warm hospitality and the opportunity to experience Dhikr at the center.

On April 10th, students from UC Berkeley’s Tamarkoz®️ DeCal course visited the MTO Berkeley Center as part of their semester. While the students regularly attend Tamarkoz classes on campus, this visit marked their first time experiencing the practice at the center itself.

They were welcomed with a brief introduction, followed by a guided meditation session and an introduction to Dhikr, the Sufi practice of remembrance, accompanied by live Daf (frame drum).

WHAT IS TAMARKOZ?

The art of self-knowledge through concentration and meditation. This heart-focused practice is unique to the M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism and is rooted in the 1,400-year-old tradition of Sufism. Professor Sadegh Angha and Professor Nader Angha, the current master of the M.T.O. school, developed Tamarkoz in its current form.

It harmonizes all aspects of your being; your body, breath, senses, thoughts, and innate energies so that you can re-cognize your true identity and can live in balance. These exercises teach you to release stress, focus, and gain a better understanding of yourself.
