The District Health Officer (DHO) Skardu, Dr. Karamat Raza, conducted a surprise visit to various health facilities across Skardu to evaluate service delivery and ensure preparedness. The facilities visited included Benazir Shaheed Hospital Gamba, FAP Hoto, CD Bagardo Thang, ACD Tinjus, CD Dasso Baghicha, Tormik, CH Thowar, and Shingus.

During the visit, the DHO thoroughly inspected the availability of staff, cleanliness, record maintenance, and essential medical supplies. He distributed the Health Facility Checklist and clearly explained its proper implementation to the concerned staff to ensure standardized service delivery. Furthermore, he handed over Emergency Medicines Boxes and guided the health personnel on their appropriate usage to strengthen emergency response and improve patient care at peripheral health centers.

The visit reflects the commitment of the District Health Office Skardu to enhance healthcare services, ensure accountability, and provide quality medical care to the people of Baltistan, especially in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

Celebration of Fully Immunization Day🥰
As part of the Polio Vaccination Campaign inauguration ceremony, the EPI Centre, RHQ Skardu, celebrated "Fully Immunized Day" for the first time in Skardu, Baltistan. The event was graced by Mrs. Syeda Kaneez Fatima, Advisor to the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, and Mr. Nisar Hussain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Skardu. Two fully immunized children were honoured and presented with gifts, shields, and hampers as a token of appreciation and encouragement for parents who completed their children's vaccination schedules. This special recognition aimed to promote routine immunization and acknowledge the efforts of parents in ensuring their children's health and well-being.

Inauguration Ceremony of Polio Campaign (02–05 February 2026)
The inauguration ceremony of the Polio Vaccination Campaign (02–05 February 2026) was held today at the EPI Centre, RHQ Skardu. The event marked the formal launch of the district-wide campaign aimed at protecting children against polio and strengthening routine immunization services.
The ceremony was graced by the participation of Advisor to the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Mrs. Syeda Kaneez Fatima, as the chief guest, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Skardu, Mr. Nisar Hussain. Both dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the health department and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a polio-free future.
A special highlight of the event was the celebration of “Fully Immunized Day”, observed for the first time in Skardu, Baltistan. On this occasion, two fully immunized children were honoured and presented with gifts, shields, and hampers as a token of appreciation and encouragement for parents who completed their children’s vaccination schedules.

The guests lauded the dedication and hard work of the health teams, vaccinators, supervisors, and supporting staff, and urged the community to fully cooperate with the health department during the campaign. The ceremony concluded with a strong message of support for frontline health workers and a renewed commitment to the successful implementation of the polio campaign.
