Let's look at these two blood gas results. This patient was on BIPAP mode and she was not able to achieve her oxygenation targets which is oxygen saturation of more than 92%. I simply switched the mode from BIPAP to CPAP without changing the pressures.
When her ABGS were repeated after an interval, her PaO2 level jumped up from 54 to 81.
CPAP is a preferred mode in selected patients with COVID 19 related disease when using Non-invasive ventilation.
