Research Report Launch:
Planning & Development Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in partnership with UNFPA Pakistan, Rozan, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Social Protection & Gender Mainstreaming Section), Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, UK-Aid, and AWAAZ-II, is pleased to announce the launch of the research report.
Titled: "Barriers to Access and Uptake of Public Sector GBV Services by Women Survivors of Violence"
Gender-based violence (GBV) remains one of the most pressing human rights challenges in Pakistan affecting women and girls across the country. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, entrenched barriers such as social stigma, limited mobility, and gaps in institutional support continue to hinder survivors’ access to essential public-sector services. In 2024 alone, thousands of GBV cases have been reported in the province, underscoring the urgent need for survivor-centered reforms.
Ms. Shazia Atta, Chief of Social Protection and Gender Mainstreaming Section, P&D Department, KP during the opening session shared, "This research is a result of strong collaboration between government institutions, FCDO, UNFP, Rozan, and other stakeholders. I would like to acknowledge and appreciate the tireless efforts of everyone involved in bringing survivor voices to the forefront of this conversation. The evidence and insights presented in the report are invaluable for informing our future planning, policy decisions, and implementation" strategies.” -
The launch event brought together policymakers, service providers, development partners, and civil society to:
🔸 Share key research findings and evidence-based recommendations
🔸 Facilitate dialogue on closing gaps in GBV response
🔸 Advocate for survivor-centered policy and practice
🔸 Foster greater coordination and accountability in public-sector GBV services
Ms. Rukhshanda Naz (Human Rights Advocate ), Ms. Syeda Nudrat (Gender Specialist, Women Empowerment, Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Dr. Mahjabeen Qazi (Provincial Program Coordinator, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-UNFPA), and Ms. Fouzia Yasmin ( Director Programs, Rozan) jointly launched the research report.
A thought-provoking Panel Discussion brought together experts and stakeholders to share real-world insights and practical solutions for ending GBV. Their voices reinforced the urgent need for survivor-centered policies and stronger collaboration at every level.
Together, let’s strengthen our response to GBV and champion the rights of survivors.
