In ancient Egypt the black cat 🐈⬛️ was a holy spirit connected to Bastet. She was the goddess of fertility and protector of the earth. She was the daughter of Re, the god of sun. To this day, images of a woman with the head of a cat or simply a cat are identified with Bastet in Egypt.
During the Middle Ages in Medieval Europe, the black cat became affiliated with evil and has been connected to witchcraft, demons, sorcery and evil spirits including the devil himself. People believed that since it is difficult to see the black cat at night, there must be a witch turning herself to be a black cat so she can practice her black magic at night.
Seems to me that I would rather live in ancient Egypt instead of Europe. 🥰
