1️⃣The procedure takes only a few minutes and the laser itself is often active for less than 30 seconds per eye.

2️⃣Quick return to daily routine - depending on the method used, you can return to office work as soon as 2-3 days after the procedure.

3️⃣Results are visible almost immediately - right after the procedure, the patient no longer needs glasses or contact lenses for daily functioning.

4️⃣The procedure is painless - thanks to local anaesthesia in the form of eye drops, the patient feels no pain during the correction.

5️⃣The corrected vision problem does not return. The procedure is only performed when the vision defect has stabilized. The surgeon inputs data from diagnostic tests - such as corneal thickness, shape, and the defect's degree - into the laser, allowing for precise and permanent correction of the cornea.

Sleep is not only essential for physical and mental recovery - it's also a crucial time for maintaining healthy eyes. Why is getting enough rest so important?

😴 Surface regeneration of the eye
During sleep, when the eyes are closed, the tear film doesn't evaporate as quickly as it does during the day. This helps keep the cornea better hydrated and nourished.

😴 Reduced eye muscle tension
Throughout the day, our vision is constantly in use - reading, working at a computer, focusing at varying distances. Sleep allows the eye muscles responsible for accommodation to relax, reducing strain and fatigue.

😴 Eye redness and puffiness prevention
Lack of sleep causes blood vessels to dilate, leading to red and swollen eyes. It also contributes to the appearance of under-eye bags and dark circles.

😴 Enhanced healing process
In many eye conditions, the body heals more effectively during sleep. For patients recovering from procedures – including laser vision correction – sleep plays an important role in the healing process.

💧 Regardless of the laser vision correction method applied, it is important to avoid contact with water in both artificial (e.g. swimming pools, fountains) and natural (e.g. lakes, seas, rivers) bodies of water for at least 30 days after the procedure.

💧 This precaution is necessary because potentially irritating substances in the water, such as chlorine and microorganisms, can cause irritation, infections, or inflammation. These complications may slow the healing process and increase the risk of postoperative complications.

💧 Importantly, if you plan to dive to greater depths, a longer break of 2-3 months is recommended. This is especially true for individuals who had high refractive errors corrected; such patients should consult their ophthalmic surgeon before resuming diving. Similar caution applies to activities such as surfing, wakeboarding, or rowing.

Upper eyelid surgery is an excellent way to restore a fresh, radiant look. But is it only about aesthetics? Not at all! 🌸

👉 The procedure is also performed when excess eyelid skin causes discomfort or limits the visual field by narrowing the visual angle.

👉 Eyelid surgery can also complement the LTS technique, which is used to correct inward or outward turning of the lower eyelid. Additionally, it may be part of the treatment for drooping eyelids (ptosis), especially when, alongside weakening of the levator muscle, there is also skin laxity in the eyelids.

Staring at a smartphone screen is not beneficial for your eyes. This is due both to the effects of blue light and the impact on the eye’s accommodation mechanism. 👀

🔹 It is especially important to limit screen time after undergoing laser vision correction. The proper function of the muscles responsible for accommodation is essential for maintaining sharp vision at both near and far distances.

🔹 It is also advisable to avoid excessive smartphone use before your qualifying examination for laser vision correction, as well as before follow-up appointments. Accommodation spasm - caused by prolonged focus on a nearby object - can distort refraction test results, both during computerised measurements and when reading from the eye chart. Additionally, staring at a screen causes you to blink less frequently, which can reduce eye surface hydration. This, too, may affect the accuracy of the measurements taken during your exam.

What are contact sports? Simply put, they are activities that involve direct physical contact with other participants. These include team sports, dance and martial arts, among others. 🤼‍♂️

Does practicing contact sports matter when qualifying for laser vision correction? Yes. Individuals active in such disciplines are more prone to injuries, which is why the ophthalmic surgeon considers this when selecting the correction method. In such cases, surface procedures like LASEK or TransPRK are often recommended. ⛹️‍♀️

It’s also important to remember that after the procedure, you should wait before returning to contact sports - sometimes up to 2 months.🤾‍♀️

Botox around the eye area, used to lift the eyebrows, is a contraindication for upper eyelid surgery until the effects of the Botox have worn off (typically 3–6 months). 💆‍♀️

Why? Raised eyebrows can distort the natural proportions of the face during the qualification assessment. If the surgery is performed during this time and the effects of the Botox wear off later, the results of the procedure may not meet expectations. 🧐

It is therefore important to plan an appropriate time gap and discuss it thoroughly with the operating surgeon already at the qualification stage.
