Hyperthermia

Hyperthermia HYPERTHERMIA is a therapeutical option in cancer therapy. When the tumor is heated, the tumor tissue become more sensitized to radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

The most common techniques which enable to deliver heat to the tumor tissue are:
- ultrasound (FUS or HIFU),
- infrared sauna,
- microwave heating,
- induction heating,
- radiofrequency (RFTA)
- magnetic hyperthermia,
- infusion of warmed liquids,
- direct application of heat (sitting in a hot room, using hot blankets). So the hyperthermia is used in combination with either radiotherapy or

chemotherapy. The hyperthermia can be devided into:
- LOCAL HYPERTHERMIA - the treatmnt is limited to a very small area, like only the tumor tissue,
- REGIONAL HYPERTHERMIA - the heated area is limited to a part of the body, like an entire organ or limb,
- WHOLE-BODY HYPERTHERMIA (usually used as a treatment of metastatic cancer).
