Regular pathways work because they benefit everyone: migrants seeking dignity and opportunity, employers looking for skilled workers, and societies striving for stronger social cohesion.
Evidence from Poland and Lithuania shows that migrants from Central Asia are already helping to address critical labour shortages in sectors such as transport, construction, manufacturing, and logistics.
To make migration work better for everyone, we need to:
• Expand labour pathways that respond to real market needs
• Ensure pathways are accessible, timely, and predictable
• Reduce dependency on single employers to strengthen protection for workers
• Promote fair and ethical recruitment practices
• Combine migration pathways with early integration support
Regular pathways are a key part of well-managed migration systems that protect people while supporting economic growth and labour market needs.
