"Changes in the appearance of the skin and its appendages in women during menopause"

During menopause, women experience various changes in the appearance of their skin and its appendages, such as hair and nails. These alterations are a direct result of a decrease in estrogen and other hormone levels, which significantly affects the functioning of the skin as a protective, sensory, and metabolic organ. Reduced hormonal activity decreases the synthesis of key structural proteins such as collagen and elastin, resulting in a loss of firmness, elasticity, and overall deterioration of the skin’s structure.
This study aimed to present the physiological and aesthetic changes occurring in female bodies during menopause, with particular emphasis on their impact on the condition of the skin, hair, and nails.
Although these processes are inevitable and progressive, proper hormonal balance and appropriate skin care can significantly delay skin aging and maintain its healthy appearance.

"Resveratrol as a multifunctional bioactive compound"

Resveratrol is a natural polyphenol found mainly in grape skins, red wine, berries and peanuts. It exhibits a wide range of biological activity, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, neuroprotective and cardioprotective properties.
The article aimed to analyse scientific research focusing on the current state of knowledge on the molecular mechanisms of action of resveratrol, its bioavailability and potential in the treatment of lifestyle diseases, wound healing and skin protection against damage caused by ultraviolet radiation. In addition, the role of resveratrol in the treatment of diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases and cardiovascular diseases was discussed.
In light of the collected data, resveratrol appears to be a promising therapeutic and cosmetic ingredient with multidirectional biological activity. Current limitations in the clinical use of resveratrol are mainly related to its low bioavailability.

"Polydeoxyribonucleotides – the future of regenerative medicine"

Polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRN) are fragments of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) obtained from fish s***m. They have the ability to stimulate angiogenesis, i.e., the formation of new blood vessels.
The article aimed to present the current state of knowledge of the potential use of PDRN in regenerative and aesthetic medicine. Their mechanisms of action were discussed, including their ability to stimulate angiogenesis, collagen synthesis, and anti-inflammatory effects.
The results of the latest scientific research indicate the effectiveness of PDRN in anti-aging treatments, scars, stretch marks, and hair loss. However, this requires further long-term clinical analyses to fully determine the safety and effectiveness of the therapies used.

"Current advances in understanding the mechanisms of skin photoaging and photoprotection strategies"

Photoaging of the skin is one of the key challenges in modern dermatology and cosmetology.
This article aimed to present the latest trends in sun protection. Selected aspects of photoprotection were discussed, ranging from the role of natural cosmetic ingredients to through new scientific reports on the effects of various types of radiation on the skin, to the personalisation of sunscreen products. The impact of protective preparations on the skin microbiome and the latest achievements in cosmetic formulations were also presented.
In recent years, significant progress has been made in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying this process, which has contributed to the development of innovative photoprotection strategies. These are crucial for maintaining healthy and youthful-looking skin in the face of increasing exposure to harmful environmental factors (including solar radiation and air pollution).

"The use of cysteamine as a hyperpigmentation brightening agent in Indonesian women"

There are many depigmenting preparations available on the cosmetic market, which often cause side effects such as dry skin, flaking, redness or burning. Intensive research is being conducted on substances with comparable efficacy but a better tolerability profile. One such substance is cysteamine.
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of combining 2.5% cysteamine with 2% Galactomyces ferment filtrate, 2% Saccharomyces ferment filtrate, 2% saccharide isomerate and 4% niacinamide. The study was conducted using a dual- application technique of serum and cream with a brightening effect on facial hyperpigmentation among women in Indonesia. An open-label pre-post-test clinical trial was used.
After six weeks of treatment, there was a significant decrease in the melanin index of the study participants. The use of cysteamine serum and cream appears to be a promising approach for treating hyperpigmentation disorders on the face.

“The impact of liver disease and diet on skin condition”

The liver is one of the most important organs in the human body. It performs many functions, such as carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism, detoxification and regulation of the immune system. It plays an important role in maintaining glucose homeostasis, synthesizing essential proteins and eliminating toxins. Liver dysfunction can manifest as a variety of skin lesions, such as pruritus, stellate telangiectasias and liver spots. This study aimed to discuss the basic aspects of liver disorders and their impact on skin conditions. Understanding the role of the liver and the consequences of liver dysfunction is essential for maintaining both body and skin health. Lifestyle modification and proper diet are effective preventive measures for its well-functioning.

"Impact of physical and emotional changes in pregnant women on perceptions of their bodies"

Stress, an inherent part of life, can significantly affect a pregnant woman’s mood and health. Cosmetologists with specialized knowledge and the right tools can effectively reduce discomfort and alleviate the negative effects of pregnancy through gentle relaxation treatments and therapies focused on massage, beauty treatments that not only reduce stress levels but also improve circulation.
The study aimed to analyse the effects of cosmetological treatments on the well-being of pregnant women, with a particular focus on their importance in reducing stress and improving the physical and mental condition of mothers-to-be.
Cosmetology salons can help pregnant women maintain emotional balance and well-being. An important aspect is to exclude treatments that may pose a risk, such as those using strong pressure, electric currents, intense heat or concentrated active ingredients.

"Tissue stimulators in skin restoration and anti-aging prevention and application methods"

Collagen is a key building block of the skin. With age, the amount of it in the body decreases, and the skin loses its firmness and elasticity. Tissue stimulators used in aesthetic treatments activate fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. In addition to their biostimulatory effects, they can also exhibit biorevitalizing and redermalizing properties.
The study aimed to review the available tissue stimulators and the treatment techniques for their application, which are gaining popularity due to the ability to customize treatments and their targeted action to stimulate collagen production.
The most commonly used stimulators include collagen, hyaluronic acid, polynucleotides, amino acids and succinic acid. Treatment techniques include nappage, intradermal, deposition and spot methods. To achieve the desired results, it is essential to know both the properties of the preparations and the appropriate methods of application.

"Skin lesions in the course of acne vulgaris and self-esteem of adolescents"

Acne vulgaris is a chronic skin disease that is particularly prevalent in adolescents during puberty.
The study aimed to assess the relationship between adolescents’ self-esteem and their attitudes toward their skin appearance.
Visible skin lesions can negatively affect adolescents’ self-esteem, their sense of self-worth. This, in turn, can cause difficulties in social-emotional functioning, and lead to severe stress. The consequences of such a condition can be mental health problems, lowered self-esteem, and anxiety disorders. At the same time, prolonged stress exacerbates acne skin lesions.
