I AM GRATEFUL for the company of a Boricua showing me downtown Ponce, PR. 🇵🇷
So much history and beautiful architecture. A lot of it saddens me though because after an earthquake in 2020 and other economic strains, many of the buildings are vacant and/or in a state of disrepair. Still, quite beautiful. ✨️💙🇵🇷🏝

I attended the Bad Bunny Experience last weekend, which was a unique look inside the artist's history, as well as a window into Puerto Rican culture. I especially like the classic casita depicting life in the old days here on the island.
Afterwards, attending a watch party for his official last Concert performance or his residency. The energy was electric, and everyone was elated by the Mark Anthony cameo.

Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending the Bad Bunny concert.😈😈🐰🎶🇵🇷
Since moving to Puerto Rico in November of 21, Bad Bunny has been a part of the cultural zeitgeist; his music blaring in bars, thumping from the stereos of cars driving by, and inevitably playing from one or more boomboxes at any popular beaches.
🎶🌅✨️🏝🐰😈🐰 🇵🇷🎶🏝
I'm far from his number one fan, but I wanted to be able to share in this cultural experience. He's become something of a folk hero, especially with his latest album honoring traditional salsa roots as well as island culture and history. He also chose to host his entire tour in Puerto Rico as a residency to bring more economic opportunity to locals. He fittingly titled his tour, "No me quiero ir de aquí ", or, in english, I don't want to leave here.
And, while I'm still far from fluent in Spanish, that's a phrase I do know and fully identify with. 😍🏝✨️🌅🇵🇷🌿

12 years ago today, I put myself in treatment for alcoholism. In hindsight, I recognize this as one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. And, it's very possible I might not have had much more life to live had I kept going on my way. I didn't know what type of recovery I was looking for, I just knew I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.
With the support of amazing staff at Valley Hope as well as the support of my fellow struggling addicts and alcoholics, I gained new humility and perspective. I left treatment directly into a sober living house, which was absolutely catalytic to my long-term recovery. I ended up becoming house manager of 31st Day Sober House for 7 years, right up until I moved to Puerto Rico in 2021. Living in and managing that house helped create shared community on my recovery journey as well as accountability, and I got DEEPLY involved in other recovery communities, taking on a plethora of different service commitments statewide.
In addition to taking on new engagements in recovery, I also began picking up new healthy hobbies like acro yoga. Filling my time with rewarding activities and engagements continues to be catalytic to my long-term recovery. I believe that if I am living a boring, monotonous, unappealing life sober, my addict tendencies will be itching to break-out and dice-roll for some "fun" AKA chaos.
12 years of not drinking has not made me impervious to mistakes or my share of misery, but I KNOW, with conviction, that picking up a drink will only make my situations worse. And I'm committed to staying sober because it's not just me that benefits, I also get to see the quality of all my relationships flourish as well. 😊✨️🫂💜💙🌿

If you've ever questioned your own sobriety journey, know that you have the potential to pursue that path, and that there are a BOUNTY of resources to support you on that endeavor (me being one of them😊).
And if nobody else tells you today, I love you & you are worth loving!

You were, ARE still, one of the greatest spiritual teachers I'll ever have in my life. A Man of true wisdom & humility. A Man who always exuded a profound sense of compassion for others as well as for yourself.🙏♾️🙏For a Man unable to conventionally hold my hand, you sure had a way of making someone feel like you were.. 🥹🫂💙
And, the way I saw you deal with challenges was truly astounding. You held such admirable courage, patience, strength and faith, FERVENTLY, in the face of the numerous uniquely daunting adversities you endured your whole life.
But, endure isn't the right word, because you didn't just survive. You're a man who lived more passionately than most, engaging deeply in community, hobbies, music, and spiritual endeavors. You absolutely refused to let your ailments deter you from fully enjoying life! ✨️🌿
I, truly, would not be the same Man without you. The deep, insightful, intellectual, and introspective conversations. ♾️💜🫂Many magical musical moments shared.🎶✨️🥳 And, I especially remain shaped by the knowledge I gained with you as a practice partner in the two-part communication class (NVC) you invited me to join. You truly shaped the way I communicate with myself and others in such healthy ways, and have bolstered my lust for life in my moments of Darkness.
I'm truly blessed to have a friend like you in my life, and though you may be passed on, you will always still be very much alive in the core of my being.

Happy Early Birthday to ME!! Epic House 🎶 Chinchoreo with 4 live DJs cruising all over the island BUMPIN 🔥 tunes, and vibin-OUT so hard. 12-8pm. Bar hopping (still near 12yrs no booze😊), then afterbars party till 4:30am😎💦🇵🇷✨️
This was seriously one of THE best live music experiences I've ever had. SO much fun swinging from the bars in the bus, winding around turns, and shakin my booty🦄🦄✨️🥳
