The Well of Indigenous Wisdom is a place for indigenous knowledge rooted in herbalism, wellness and indigenous concepts of healing. Indigenous wisdom is a way for humanity to connect with each other, the plant and beyond and understand our relationship is a oneness and unity. With indigenous wisdom we are reminded of who, why and where we are in our purpose and existence.

One of the activities we will have at the gathering is making objects out of soapstone. Soapstone is indigenous to an area in Kenya called Kisii. It comes in several colors, pink, white and yellow. White soapstone has a hard texture, so the bowl I made was extra work! I have learned to appreciate local artisan original work with soapstone now that I understand what it takes. The dust after sculpturing is collected and used as indigenous paint☀️

Here's my post on Baobab. 🌞 and I did a whole road trip. I wanted a pic with this majestic being, grandfather Baobab. We got out even though it was a risk, Buffalo not far, elephants, Dik Dik, and you know how the food chain works...it's was a Thursday evening. I stood next to this giant of beings and hypnotized. He said, we are the keepers of the inner earth, the satellites of the underground knowledge, the protectors of the mystic and the nurturers of the transient beings. The ones who are coming from the the unseen to this realm.

In coastal Kenya, there has been an attack of these beings, I heard that the Mijikenda consider them evil, because they house spirits. I can confirm that! However, are our indigenous people colonized by an old narrative, yes! When Islam and Christianity came to Africa through colonization the program was/is to separate the people from the land, from their spiritual powers. This the superstition that has carried on for 100s of years.

Baobab is a food source for all life, we call it Mutual, the seeds, Mabuyu. Am sure you're enjoying it as a super food in the West, which is the general strategy. Expense super foods are usually sacred to indigenous people but narratives such as "it's evil and bad" are promoted by the same Western forces.

Photo dump of my 🌞and I, with Auntie and all kinds of situations. We literally have been nomadic these past weeks along the coast to islands, into our Maasai homeland and more and more. Travelling is in my DNA and my children seem to have inherited it. Hope you find these personal experiences attractive because it's a pre- view...

I want to talk about my amazement with Baobab but also the need to protect it as our animal relatives rely on this, so do we who practice indigenous spirituality. I'll save that for next post...

Anyways, who's coming to Back to My Roots in March. We need to close early bird registration which ends this month. Karibu Kenya🇰🇪 Check out our website in bio, we won't disappoint ❤️💚🖤

My son surprised be this Season ✨ He's a grown man now. And I haven't paid for anything. I know now that as I enter into eldership I will be taken care of. Can't wait to teach his children all my indigenous shenanigans 👀 That day is not yet here....but when it is they'll be dancing in the forest at night chanting Yoruba prayers, swimming in the deep ocean and mixing herbal formulas in the kitchen. Also they'll know they're body is 🪄.

Happy New Gregorian Year Everyone.
