How it started!

A pasado mucho tiempo del el bohío estar cerrado esto no es post que vamos a reabrir el bohío. Quería notificar el fallecimiento de mi abuela Carmen mercado aquí hay unas memorias del bohío cuando empezó en 1991 mi abuela tenía sueño de tener su negocio adonde ella se crío no fue fácil pero lo logró ella quería tener un sitio adonde los locales se sentía cómodos y bienvenidos. Yo tuve el honor de correr el bohío por 15 años gracias abuela te amo.

It’s been a long time since El bohio been closed I missed it dearly. I wanted to show the original owner my grandmother Carmen Mercado she has left this earth her spirit will be with me for ever. She open the el bohío 1991 she had dream of having a business where she grew up she wanted a place where the locals felt welcomed where able to have a great time. She was able to provide for her family I had the honor of continuing the bohío for 15 years.

Hello El Bohio customers and friends, Malorie here, and unfortunately we have some sad news to share. After 30 years, we have decided to close our doors. And we are so incredibly thankful for all the years of support.

In all honesty, it has not been easy to stay open. The past few years we have gone from Zika to category 5 hurricanes to earthquakes, regular power outages, and then the global pandemic shutting us down… So after much reflection, I’ve realized that the time has come to say goodbye.

It’s been 13 years since I took over El Bohio from my grandmother, at that time my mother had just passed away, and I was 22 years old. I am proud of my self for stepping up and keeping El Bohio open for as long as I did. Although, I truly feel that it is time for new beginnings for me and my family.

To my El Bohio gang, my girls, they have become sisters to me. I made friendships that will last a lifetime and without the bartenders El Bohio would not had been what it is.

And to all our customers, thank you again for all the love and support over the years. You all are the reason I continued to stay open. El Bohio will be missed, but it’s time for me to move on and see what other doors will open up! We’ll always have the memories.
