Hosting Dr. Ilan Meyer in Puerto Rico was one of those moments that reminds you why you do this work. 🌴✨
It’s always a little tricky meeting someone you deeply admire. You build up their ideas in your mind. You quote their research. You teach their frameworks. You reference their work in conversations about policy, mental health, and social justice. And then suddenly, they’re right there in front of you.
What struck me most about Dr. Meyer was how easy-going, like-minded, and genuinely humble he is. 🤝 No ego. No distance. Just clarity, generosity, and deep commitment to the wellbeing of LGBT+ communities. 🌈
Dr. Meyer has an extraordinary capacity to consolidate decades of research and knowledge into ideas that others can truly understand and apply. 📚✨ His work doesn’t just live in academic journals — he connects research to real life, and more importantly, to public policy. 🏛️ He helps us understand how data translates into systems change, how minority stress becomes a public health conversation, and how evidence must inform the decisions that shape our communities’ lives.
As someone doing this work in Puerto Rico, it was an honor to host him, to learn from him, and to exchange ideas grounded in both science and lived experience. 🇵🇷💬
I’m deeply grateful for the time, the conversations, and the shared vision. 🙏
And I’m very much looking forward to continuing to work together and collaborating on future projects that advance equity, health, and dignity for LGBT+ communities. 🚀
The work continues — stronger when we build it together as a community. 💜
