The Academy exists for and is dedicated to the following purposes and principles:

To promote the development and practice of safe, high quality, cost-effective pain management techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of pain related disorders, and to ensure patient access to these treatments and interventions. To preserve and increase access for pain management techniques. To advance patient

safety, cost effectiveness, and accountability. To provide state of the art in pain management services. To communicate with legislators, patients, the public, CMS, and third party payors about pain management services access. To uphold high principles, policies, and practices. To pursue excellence in education in pain management. i. To eliminate fraud and abuse. j. To provide the best possible pain management.
