Maimonides Fitness

Maimonides Fitness Private gym with the best equipment, top instruction, and dietary counseling His teachings of diet and exercise are relevant today.

Maimonides emphasized an obvious truth; that we cannot function without good health. Maimonides is one of the most outstanding teachers of Jewish law of all time, but he was also the most prominent doctor in his time, and cared for King Saladin, the Sultan of Egypt and Syria. The Maimonides Health & Fitness Center is not merely a local gym, but also a research center focusing on healing the metabolic syndrome (diabetes, obesity, and heart-disease) through diet and exercise. One third of the adult population has prediabetes, and most people arenโ€™t even aware of it. Diabetes itself is the seventh leading cause of death, but it also leads to many other illnesses. Rabbi Yonason Herschlag, fitness trainer, and CEO of the Maimonides Health & Fitness Center, is on the forefront of disseminating the most advanced research in the fields of physiology and endocrinology concerning fat-loss and battling the metabolic syndrome. His recent book, MAIMONIDES & METABOLISM, contains the most cutting edge physiology of fat-loss and conquering the metabolic syndrome. It includes: 174 important relevant studies, 6 graphs, 7 pictures/diagrams, 14 tables, 340 footnotes, and a 29 page bibliography. While the book delves in deeply into nutrition and making wise choices of ones macronutrients, much focus is on Maimonides teachings concerning WHEN to eat and WHEN to exercise. For example the importance of doing aerobics before breakfast, and resistance training ideally in the late afternoon, is all backed up with studies and medical textbooks. MAIMONIDES & METABOLISM is a necessary book for all doctors and dietitians, but great care was taken to insure it is in a language understandable for the layperson, to make this important knowledge available and benefit as many people as possible.

Comparing today's measurements (at age 59) to those of one year ago:
6/8/23 - waist 97, bicep 44.5, 96.6, bf 19.4kg, lm 77.2, 20% BP110X2 S150X2 DL200
10/7/22 - waist 101, bicep 44.5, 100kg, bf 21.8kg, lm 78.2kg, 21.8% BP110X2 S160X2 DL220.
So my most prominent loss of strength was in the deadlift wherein I pulled 220kg a year ago, and barely pulled 200kg today (only on second attempt - first attempt failed)
My squat also went down from 160kg to 150kg, but that's harder to gauge, as there was no judge to rule if I went down to parallel.
My body weight went down 3.4kg, from 100 to 96.6. Of that I estimate that I lost one kilogram of muscle, and 2.4kg of body fat. The estimate is based on my waistline which went down four centimeters, from 101cm to 97cm. Fortunately my bench press today matched that of a year ago (110kg X2), and my bicep measurement remained the same, at 44.5cm, which means that I essentially maintained upper body strength, and sacrificed my glutes and hamstrings in the weight reduction. Despite the sacrifice in deadlift strength, overall, I deem my body composition as having improved, valuing the 2.4kg body fat reduction more than the 1kg loss of lean body mass. Percentage-wise, my body fat is down from 21.8% to 20%. This is a hard battle at my age.
