The International Health Centres have been providing primary care for both residents and tourists in the Albufeira area since 1989. The clinic is run on the English and Dutch general practice model of doctors offering primary medical care to patients on an out-patient basis during opening hours, and providing an on-call service for emergencies 24/7 out of hours. Over the years the services offered by the clinic expanded to include physiotherapy/osteopathy and nursing, plus a range of medical, para-medical and diagnostic ancillary services. Three year ago the International Health Centres joined the Hospital Particular Group of medical facilities with its network of specialist clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centres spread across the entire Algarve. This closer cooperation between the primary general practice and secondary specialist and hospital care has allowed the International Health Centres to offer its patients a quality and speed of care second to none. The International Health Centres is now one of the top clinics in the Algarve, staffed by doctors of English and Dutch nationality, plus Dutch physiotherapist/osteopath and ancillary staff of mixed nationality providing a friendly, caring and quality service.
