✨️Online healing yoga practice Sunday 9am✨️

"Her nervous system had been through so much. She decided to spend the rest of her life calming the inflammation. Thoughts, feelings, memories, behaviour, relations. She soothed it all with deep, loving breaths and gentle practices. The softer she became with herself, the softer she became with the world, which became softer with her. She birthed a new generational cycle: Peace. " Jaiya John

The last 2 weeks we have been exploring the teachings of balancing our Sthira and Sukha energy, effort, and ease, with a primary focus on challenging and dynamic yoga practices followed by rest. The next two weeks will be focusing on living in a more Sukha state by encouraging deep rest of the mind, body and soul by calming and regulating the nervous system through gentle movement, sound, touch, meditation, breathwork and vagus nerve exercises.

So, what are the signs of a dysregulated nervous system?
✨️constantly on edge and overwhelmed
✨️feeling snappy, irritable, easily triggered, and reactive
✨️experiencing chronic pain and illness
✨️highly sensitive to sensory stimuli
✨️sleep problems and daily fatigue
✨️attention and concentration issues
✨️cravings and extreme appetite changes
✨️immune and hormonal symptoms
✨️skin and gut conditions
✨️sensitive to other peoples emotional states

For the next two Sunday mornings, I will be teaching you some techniques and exercises that you can do daily to dedicate to your recovery, rest, and healing. I will be guiding you through breathwork, meditation, mantra, and calming deep stretch, yin, and restorative yoga that stimulates our yin energy and activates our vagus nerve, Parasympathetic nervous system, and calms our nervous system, helping the body to go into deep rest and recovery. Expect a very slow practice that we will practice mainly laying down or seated.

All welcome ♡ please send me a message to join🙏

Life is a balance between holding on and letting go" Rumi
Sthira Sukham Asanam - Yoga sutra 2.46~The posture for meditation should be steady, stable and comfortable.

Patanjali's teachings were concerned with developing ease in meditation posture to deepen meditative absorption and attain Samadhi. We can also take this philosophy asana practice.

Physically, we move out of our comfort zone; challenging, while not over exerting ourselves. We engage our muscles to hold the posture with stability while not feeling tension. We practice correct alignment while not being rigid. We move with strength while also honouring softness. We maintain a deep, slow breath to allow the flow of pranic energy through our being. Mentally, we are present and fully absorbed in our practice, using Drishti eye focus to cultivate concentration while not becoming entangled with the fluctuations of the mind. Emotionally, we allow powerful emotions to dissipate while practising detachment to allow ourselves to "dwell in the good place" of Sukha. With consistent practice, we cultivate feelings of contentment and gratitude, connecting to our innate inner wisdom.

We can also bring these teachings into our lives. How often are we caught up in our to-do lists, taking on too much, overworking, and overthinking? Saying yes to too many things? forgetting to prioritise our mental, physical, and emotional health? Leading to stress, burnout, and exhaustion. Perhaps we can find a way to connect back to the soul. Cultivating a state of mind that is peaceful. During busy days, we could pause and take deep belly breaths to switch on our parasympathetic nervous system. Practice some movement to release stagnant energy. Nourish our bodies with healthy food. Calm the mind with meditation. Practice a calming bedtime routine for restorative sleep. Set boundaries that honour our wellbeing. Through the practice of Sthira and Sukha, we can meet life's challenges with confidence and give ourselves the gift of living a life of harmony.

This Sunday will be a challenging yet fun vinyasa flow practice with deep breathing and meditation 🙏 Please send a message to join 🕉

"Lead me from ignorance to truth, from darkness to light, from death to immortality." pavamāna abhyāroha, Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad

This Sunday 9am online, we will be learning about Vijnanamaya Kosha, the wisdom sheath, our layer of wisdom, intuition and awareness. When the mind is full of vrittis (fluctuations) the mind can be fragmented, and we are unable to access our inner wisdom, shadowing the light of Vijnanamaya Kosha. Yoga practice helps to burn through our Samskara, vrittis, fears, attachments and aversions allowing us to be fully present and open a doorway to our soul. When we have reached a point in our spiritual practice where we are not entangled in rising thoughts, and are living a conscious life where we are not slaves to our emotions and behavioural patterns then we are living in wisdom. It is observing ourselves and the world around us without judgment, and having freedom from behaviors that are not bringing us peace. Here lies our liberation, our freedom for the soul. When we are able to recognise patterns that are not serving us, make changes and not become triggered to internal and external distractions, then we are living from the soul and coming into alignment with our higher self.

We all have deep levels of wisdom and intuition or what is called higher knowledge (Buddhi) within us. If we are still and silent; sitting in meditation we can hear it. Sometimes we are unable to connect to this inner wisdom as our mind is so noisy, or we do not trust our own insight. In this way we practice meditation to connect to our true nature. We receive these answers not from the mind, but from the heart. So, place your hands on your heart centre, breathe deeply and ask for the answers that you seek, ask for guidance in your spiritual path, ask for help to surrender.
We will be sharing a practice of chanting the pavamāna mantra, to ask for guidance in transcendence, to dispel ignorance, darkness and death and live in an enlightened state. We will move through vinyasa flow, powerful pranayama to circulate prana and activate the 3rd eye, Ajna, our chakra of wisdom and intuition. We will finish our practice with meditation and silence.

"Yogas chitta vrittti nirodha". The yoga sutras of Patanjali- Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind

I hope you are all healthy, happy and peaceful🪷This Sunday at 9am online we will learn about the Manomaya Kosha, the mind sheath. It is our level of thought, intellect, judgements and ego, where separateness of self is created. Manomaya Kosha is the lens in which we see life and is formed by our upbringing and conditioning. Since our childhood and everyday since, our mind created attachments, aversions and perceptions based on our experiences, which can serve us or hold us back in life.
In yoga practice we believe that our present is an outcome of all or past actions, the law of Karma. In relation to this, we all have Vasanas (Behavioural tendencies) and Samskaras (Psychic imprints) which are created by past action. When a Samskara is triggered it becomes a Vritti. Vrittis can be thought of as fluctuations in the mind. The more vrittis present, the more fragmented the mind. We can think of this like turbulence in water.
We are usually triggered when we are not aware; then we may react with pure emotion rather than taking time to be present. Understand that emotions and thoughts in meditation are not a barrier to our practice, they ARE the practice, we are releasing and burning away our conditionings that are not serving us.
It is completely normal to have thoughts and emotions arising during practice. When they do, we become aware, allow them to come to the surface and dissipate then return to the breath. Becoming the witness of our mind.
Yoga practice and meditation purify the Koshas and cleanse us from samskaras, vrittis and behavioural tendencies we suffer from, in order to connect us back to our inner light. Until we cleanse our Samskaras we will forever remain a slave to our thoughts and emotions and will be driven by our triggers and reactions in life.
During this practice we will chant the Gayatri mantra to awaken our inner light, practice vinyasa flow with drishti eye gaze, pranayama, Trataka candle gazing and end with philosophy discussion and learn about how to cleanse the Manomaya Kosha.
Looking forward to practising with you🪷

Absolutely adore where I live, and grateful for my beautiful garden and to be surrounded by nature ♡ but after nearly 10 years in Portugal I'm also naturally really missing it so much, especially the ocean, surfing and I just missed fig season there❤️
So the universe must have been listening to me, as I found a fig tree in my garden with perfectly ripe figs ♡ 🙏🏽🇵🇹

Heart opening moving meditation flow yoga on my YouTube channel Yoga with Miri ♡

This practice is a moving meditation, a slow flow vinyasa class to to give you time to slow down, really tune into your breathing, into the present moment and quiet your mind.
This practice focuses on heart opening (shoulders, chest, upper back, moving into gentle back bends) but is a whole body release with a long savasana ♡ so this is for you guys who have been sitting at a desk for hours, or generally those who have a lot of tension in the shoulders ♡
Kaia my doggy makes a little appearance too 🥰

This is a deeply relaxing yet more active practice which is challenging in parts 🙏

Namaste yoga family 🙏

'The way is not in the sky, the way is in the heart.'

I would like to take this time now to share with you all that as much as I would love to continue teaching online, I have been listening to that inner voice that says it is time now to focus on my upcoming birth and preparing for baby ♡

I will really miss our Sunday sessions and teaching so much🙏 However I know that as soon as the time is right I will be back to teaching again and hope then that you will all join me again. So this Sunday will be the last practice together for now. I love you all, and will miss practicing with you so much, but i will still be in touch on here until I start teaching again 🥰 xx

This weeks online yoga class schedule

Sunday (tommorow) 9am 120 minutes - This Sunday we will be doing a relaxing yin practice with some gentle flows in between to unravel tension. We will also practice breathwork, mantra and meditation/ affirmations/ visualizations and yoga philosophy discussion exploring the fourth chakra Anahata. This will include yin postures that will focus on heart openers, backbends and upper back release.

Anahata chakra Practice 🙏

In Sanskrit, Anahata means unstruck and is depicted as a beautiful green or rose pink lotus flower. Anahata is our chakra of Joy, compassion, unconditional love, forgiveness, our connection to others and kindness. Physically it is connected to our lungs, heart, shoulders, upper back, chest and thymus gland.

When our heart chakra is in balance we feel that we are able to give and recieve love freely, be kind to ourselves and others, forgive easily and offer compassion and live in harmony with yourself and all living beings.
Sometimes however we can experience blockages in our heart chakra due to getting a broken heart and getting hurt leading to losing trust and faith in ourselves and others. Through physical postures, meditation, vizualisation, mantras we will aim to find out what our blockages are and release some of this pain and stagnant energy and feel balance and love in our hearts again :)

If you would like to join this final online session please DM me ♡♡

Namaste yoga family :)

'It takes practice to hear your true desires. Your passions will often come as a whisper or serendipitous event that reminds you of what's important and what makes you happy.' Eckhart Tolle

This week we continue with the second chakra Svadisthana.

This weeks online zoom yoga class schedule:

🙏Sunday 9am 90-120 minutes - This Sunday we will be returning to our yin and restorative practice, very gentle movement, breathwork, mantra and meditation/visualizations and philosophy discussion exploring the chakra, Svadisthana. This will include yin postures which will focus on the lower body again, mainly hips, sacrum, and the lower back.

Svadisthana chakra Practice
Translating to 'dwelling in the place of the self', Svadisthana, or the sacral chakra is located centrally between the sacrum and below the navel, Svadisthana chakra is connected physically to the reproductive organs, bladder, pelvic area, adrenals and lower back. Emotionally it is connected to flow, pleasure, sexuality, desires, creativity, excitement in life and being to express ourselves freely. It is also connected to our relationship with ourselves and others, and learning how to set healthy boundaries. Svadisthana chakra is visualised as a beautiful orange lotus flower and it's symbol represents the cycle of life, death and rebirth.

During this relaxing practice we will aim to recognise and feel if you have any blockages in this chakra and learn how to release blockages/stagnation or overactivity and most importantly provide you with ways that you can practice yourselves to encourage healing and to rebalance your energies.

If you would like to join, you can send me a DM, or email hayatiyoga@outlook.com.
