🌊 A novos começos

I have just completed an intensive 3 weeks of Therapeutic Healing Yoga Workshop with with Deepak.

It's a insightful program, based on the Iyengar yoga approach – which basically modifies the classic Hatha yoga postures (asanas) and uses props so that people with injuries, conditions or limitations can also practice, assisting the body to recover and become stronger. Its also a method that can help practitioners to improve their individual practice, as we all have a unique body anatomy and, over time and with lifestyle, develop good and not so good patterns.

More than the postural mechanics and the interplay with the “trials until finding your right fit” from Iyengar, Deepak focuses on respecting what our body feels and “likes”, free of pain or discomfort, rather than using the will of the mind. The practitioner is given the time and space to feel the posture and the different centres and flow of energy while going into and remaining in the asana.

Much gratitude for the additions to my own practice. I am looking forward to bring the flavour of this method into my classes!

Thank you, Deepak.
Happy new year everyone!❤️🧡

Trikonasana, or Triangle Pose, is a beautiful warm up posture to stretch the legs & hips muscles, tendons and articulations.

In fact, whichever version of these 3 options, each has its own benefits. Once stable in the pose, breathe 5 times mindfully.

Sitting for meditation or Pranayama/breathwork is the art of choosing the option that suits you best while keeping a tall, straight back. We don't need everyone sitting in the same way.
Here are some suggestions. Which is your favorite?

With the war and violence sad news coming to us each day, Ahimsa feels more than ever a relevant Yama to practice. We are in so much need of peace. Ahimsa is the first of the five “Yamas”, ethical principles that guide the good yoga practitioner when interacting with the world.

Ahimsa is a complex concept, meaning to cause no injury, do no harm or suffering, or non-violence. I appreciate the meaning of “non-violence” because it reminds us we all have seeds of violence within us. In the form of impatience or lack of openness, rigidity, irritation, anger, rage or hate. We all have these seeds in us.

Violence can be expressed in so many different ways, from subtle to very physical. So, the practice of ahimsa starts from within us, in our thoughts and convictions, words and actions towards the external world.

How can we practice non-violence? How can we prevent our seeds of violence from being triggered and expanding around us? To what extent am I aware of causing harm to others, for example, when I communicate verbally? Finally, why should we practice ahimsa? These are some of the many challenges Ahimsa invites us to reflect upon.

The 5 Yamas are: Ahimsa/non-violence; Sathya/truth telling; Brahmacharya/moderation; Asteya/non-stealing; and Aparigraha/non-possessiveness.

May we be free from suffering.
May we be protected from pain.

Impermance always grants us the benefit of opportunity. Therefore, "never say never" as the universe listens, our physical body follows the words we say and the thoughts we cultivate.

Hatha Yoga is a beautiful way to dive deep into knowing ourselves, bringing together the physical body and the mind.

To feel at ease, be playful and love our own feet, legs, hands, head and mind.

To explore the edges of our comfort zone. Suitable to every body, mind, soul, age and gender.

We are nature and nature is our home! Every and each day we are sitting on its lap, through the food we eat, the clothing, the land under our feet. Everything.
What can we do every and each day, with small actions, to give back a little love and take good care of our home?

Throwback to travels in Mysore in 2022.

Happy Valentine's Day to all wonderful friends, may we spread love by opening the heart to both give and receive. Love in all its infinite expressions!

Kapotasana, camel pose is one of my favorite heart opening postures. Let's do it step by step! Wonderful benefits for the spine articulation and strength.

Please always use the breath and go easy with the backbend as it can be too much if you are not doing it regularly.
