Today is LHON Awareness Day
Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy ( ) is a rare genetic form of mitochondrial disease that causes sudden, painless vision loss. In many cases, both eyes are affected within weeks or months.
There is currently no cure, but greater awareness can lead to earlier diagnosis, better support, and renewed focus on research.
