Something a little different is coming to The Yoga Room. 🌿

On Sunday 24th May, 17h–19h, we're welcoming Michael Metelits for an introductory workshop on Hun Yuan Qigong — a practice built on stillness, slow movement, and presence.

Michael is a Senior Instructor with the Tai Chi and Qigong Union for Great Britain and has spent decades studying movement, energy, and the body. Now based in Lisbon, we're glad to have him share this with our community.

In this session, you'll get a grounded introduction to what qigong is, its benefits, and experience 1–2 standing postures and moving forms from the Hun Yuan system — five postures and twelve slow, meditative movements that are simple to begin and quietly transformative over time.

Join us for a nourishing creative workshop — a chance to slow down, reconnect, and express what’s within.

We’ll begin with a short guided meditation to help you arrive fully, settle your mind, and connect with yourself. From this grounded place, we’ll move into a creative session where you can choose between creative journalling or vision boarding.

Creative journalling is an expressive way of exploring your thoughts and feelings on the page. Rather than writing only with words, you’ll combine writing, drawing, collage, colour, and imagery in response to guided prompts. It’s a playful, intuitive process that allows ideas, emotions, and reflections to unfold visually and creatively.

If you prefer, you can instead focus on creating a vision board — a visual collage using images, words, and textures that represent your intentions, values, and the direction you’d like to move toward in your life.

What to bring

•⁠ ⁠Your own journal (A4 is the minimum size — larger formats are encouraged, and square journals work especially well) if you plan to do creative journalling
•⁠ ⁠Any personal items you’d like to incorporate, such as photos, magazine cuttings, tickets, mementos, or meaningful scraps

Basic materials will be provided, but personal pieces can make your creations even more meaningful.

No artistic experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to explore.

As recorded in the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali over 2,000 years ago, yoga is more than a physical practice, it is a complete path toward inner freedom.

This path is known as the Ashtanga Yoga System, or the Eight Limbs of Yoga. The word ashta means “eight,” and anga means “limb,” symbolizing the interconnected steps that guide us toward liberation.

The eight limbs offer a holistic framework for living with awareness, discipline, and compassion, moving from ethical foundations and self-study to breath, meditation, and ultimately, union with our true nature.

Yoga, in this sense, is a lifelong journey inward, one that invites balance between body, mind, and spirit. 🕉️✨
