This is the official page for the Portuguese Society for Developmental Biology (SPBD). Look here for information about all SPBD activities and its members.

www.spbd.pt SPBD is the Portuguese Society for Developmental Biology. Its main aims are to promote teaching, learning and research in developmental biology in Portugal. It also aims to bring together all interested in developmental biology. SPBD sponsors local scientific meetings, and holds international meetings together with the Spanish Society for Developmental Biology. As member of the International Society for Developmental Biology it aims to promote the scientific exchange with its international partners.

To our community, the SPBD prize for Best PhD Thesis (3rd edition) in Developmental Biology (PhD completed in 2020 or 2021) is open for nominations until 31st of July, 2022 😜
Send to board.spbd@gmail.com (in PDF format) a digital version of your thesis and a description (up to 6000 characters with spaces) of main findings and their impact to your research field. Ask your PhD thesis supervisor to send a letter of support (up to 3000 characters with spaces) stating why you deserve this amazing award and how is the status of publications that resulted from your thesis work.
The decision will be the sole responsibility of a committee of three experts nominated by the SPBD board. It is the responsibility of the committee to decide on the eligibility of nominated theses, considering the specific research subject. The results (and the monetary award of 300€) will be announced during the19th International Congress of Developmental Biology (link in the Bio).

We are pleased to announce that the "19th International Congress of Developmental Biology" is just around the corner 😜😜
The congress will take place in the Algarve, Portugal on 16-20 October 2022 in collaboration with the International Society of Developmental Biologists.
We expect to have a great in person meeting, full of discussions on scientific breakthroughs and emerging aspects of Developmental Biology
Deadline for abstract submission is June 17th 🗓 For more information and to register in the meeting click on the link in our Bio
