Our bodies utilizes food as fuel to carry out metabolic activities, energy provision, growth and repairs. However, it not only gives us energy; it also has an effect on how we feel. How can we choose better foods now that we know this? Billion of bacteria live in our gastrointestinal system or gut. Our diet has a direct impact on our gut health (or the ratio of good to bad bacteria) and the synthesis of neurotransmitters, which operate as chemical messengers in our bodies and are continually transferring information from the gut to the brain.
We can deliberately select foods that inspire positive mood states since different foods cause different moods. We can eat foods that support beneficial bacteria in our stomachs to maintain our moods, our response to impulse especially in the workplace. The physiological responses that varied foods cause should also be taken into account. For instance, serving and eating light or sweet foods with friends and family and possibly consuming spicy food before a confrontational meeting where we don't want to get ran over might make sense.
WE ARE WHAT WE EAT.
