Building a program inside the Train Like a Ballerina app is a process that takes years.

It begins long before the cameras come out - with collaboration alongside leading sports scientists for dancers, studying the biomechanics behind the goal and designing the most effective way to train it.

From there comes the meticulous work.
Every exercise is carefully selected.
Every movement is tested.
Every description is written so dancers understand exactly how to execute it.

Then we begin filming with our Master Trainer Iana Salenko.
We spent a full day capturing her 150+ exercise library for the app.
The following day was dedicated to filming the follow-along workouts, recording an interview with Iana, and capturing the photography you see throughout the program.
Then came an entire day recording guided training audio, so every exercise can be coached step by step inside the app.

After filming finishes, another major phase begins.
Uploading every exercise into the backend.
Building the workouts.
Assembling the full program.
Testing and trialling it with dancers.
All so that when it finally reaches you, it delivers the most intelligent and effective training possible for dancers.

This process has been unfolding for the past couple of years.
And on Wednesday, we’re incredibly excited to finally release it to you with the launch of the Higher Extensions Program inside the Train Like a Ballerina app.

Tomorrow we’ll also be sharing a full behind-the-scenes video on our YouTube channel, giving you a glimpse into what it takes to bring something like this to life.

For years, dancers have been told that higher extensions come from stretching deeper.

It’s compensating.

True turnout comes from the hip socket.
Not torque at the knee.
Not twisting from the foot.

When strength is missing,
the body borrows rotation from somewhere else.
That “somewhere else” will eventually complain.

Build the joint.
