🇵🇹 Big news for anyone moving to !
On August 8, 2025, the Constitutional Court blocked parts of the new immigration package. That means:
✅ Current Foreigners Law stays in place
👨👩👧 Family reunification still possible (though AIMA currently prioritises minors)
💼 Job-seeking visas remain open to all
⚖️ Right to appeal AIMA decisions is protected
🛂 UNEF (the new border unit) continues to operate
⚠️ Next step: Parliament will debate the Nationality Law in September, changes that could lengthen residency requirements and tighten naturalization. Experts are warning some of these may also be unconstitutional.
