The most common question we receive is:

“Can I restore my feet naturally?”

The answer is a simple one: yes, the ways about doing it, are somewhat more complex.

Rehabilitation begins with A. Switching your shoes, B. Awaken your feet through exercise & C. Become more active with weight bearing activity (walking, running etc).

The complexity comes when we try to understand the right amounts of each we need & when to introduce them.

Some people may talk about how they simply put on “barefoot shoes” & the rest was history, for others “barefoot shoes” were the wrong choice for them!

If you’ve lived a life time in conventional shoes, inactive or simply doing more worse than good for your feet, we’re here to say there’s a little journey ahead of you. This journey should be seen as a positive over a negative as the end results are wonderful!

So how to improve?

Exercise:
Visit our “Fix Your Feet” online workshop for the best starter workshop available right now. It will give you everything you need to know to improve your foot function.

Switch shoes:
visit functional-footwear.com for our favourite brands.

Change habits:
Begin by feeling the grass, sand, mud or even rocks beneath your feet, wake them up, sense the ground & enjoy some lost sensation from your feet. Stand for short periods of the day, take short walks in your new shoes & with the above workshop you can learn how to progress slowly.

Let’s take a slightly complex subject (for some) & make it simple. Don’t rush the process & the results will leave you astonished 😊

Can you relate to this? 😊

A very common mistake many people make when using minimalist footwear is only initially using them as training shoes. If you're doing low-impact activities like yoga, that's ok.

Instead here are 2 important things to consider here; your foot is more likely to re-shape itself and get stronger when you spend more hours on it (granted its functioning relatively well, and if not, add corrective exercises).

We may spend about 1-5h per week exercising, but 10-40h+ per week on our feet doing our daily chores. Most people would benefit much more by using lifestyle/casual functional shoes to start with, especially if you're involved in high impact activities such as running.

The sudden change to minimalist footwear in high impact activities is a common cause of injury. Walking and standing will give your feet time to adapt and for you to get to know your limits better.

Walking is about 1,25 x bodyweight per step, running and jumping is 3-5x your body weight. That being said, there is always a benefit to having wide, foot shape toe-box no matter what your doing!
