Casa da Paz, Monchique

Casa da Paz is a beautiful rural cottage resting on top of a South facing valley of Monchique. It was the pioneer in rural and eco tourism as the first accomodation of its kind in Monchique and possibly the Algarve! It was set up by the famous Herbalist and Authoress Zelia Sakai back in 1980. Although now a private residence, the owners are renting out one self contained private guest house which is annexed to the main house. This precious location offers tranquility and peace as it is surrounded by springs of natural water and mountain streams, hence the name ( The House of Peace ) This is the ideal place for a peaceful stay to unwind and forget about everyday stress with endless paths to walk in the relaxing hillsides where you can get to know about Monchique's incredible flora and fauna, bird watching and wildlife. Although situated so privately, the centre of Monchique is only an 8 minute drive away to where there are many ammenities, shops and restaurants where one can experience the local lifestyle and adventure around the picturesque town. There are breathtaking viewpoints travelling out of Monchique up the windy roads of the 'Foia' where you can find many quaint restaurants serving Portugal's famous Chicken Piri Piri and local dishes whilst enjoying the magnificent views. Upon arrival the owners will present you with a welcome package to assure you have everything you need to enjoy the most pleasant stay possible. On the estate there is a unique natural spring water splash pool fed by the purest mountain water surrounded by various terraces for sunbathing, yoga and meditation. Other terraces host organic orchards with a vast variety of delicious fresh fruits and boasting a 100+sqm herb garden and vegetable patch which are all 100% ecological. Dotted around are various natural springs (one of which is a medicinal Iron rich nutrient spring) which create lovely features and supply the house with the highest quality drinking water. The Atlantic Ocean is a beautiful 30 minute drive away through the mountain roads where you can find some of Europe's most desired beaches around Portimao or Albufeira displaying the famous natural rock arches and coves. The Algarve's quaint seaside towns offer some of the World's best seafood and local delicacies and where fishing, sight seeing, kayaking, whale and dolphin watching are available all year round. The rates are inclusive of IVA (VAT) tax and are in Euros €. A relaxing place for adults to get away from it all. We only accept reservations over 21 years of age. High season:

Low season:
