🇵🇹 Dia de Liberdade | Freedom Day l Carnation Revolution

Today, we celebrate the courage, unity, and hope that changed Portugal forever. On April 25th, 1974, a peaceful revolution ended decades of dictatorship and restored freedom to the people. 🌹

Why is it called the Carnation Revolution?
Because as the movement unfolded, civilians took to the streets and placed red carnations into the barrels of soldiers’ guns – a powerful symbol of peace over violence that gave the revolution its name.

More than a historic moment, it’s a reminder that change can come through unity, bravery, and even the simplest gestures.

Almonds at Easter aren’t just a sweet treat 🌸

They bloom early in spring, symbolizing new life and fresh beginnings. In Portugal, colourful sugar-coated almonds represent both sweetness and hardship in the Easter story.

They’re also part of a lovely tradition: godchildren gift almonds on Palm Sunday, and receive treats in return on Easter.

Plus… they’re just really good 😄

As amêndoas na Páscoa não são apenas um doce 🌸

Florescem no início da primavera, simbolizando a nova vida e novos começos. Em Portugal, as coloridas amêndoas açucaradas representam tanto a doçura como as dificuldades da história da Páscoa.

Fazem também parte de uma tradição encantadora: os afilhados oferecem amêndoas no Domingo de Ramos e recebem doces em troca na Páscoa.

Além disso… são simplesmente deliciosas 😀

Behind every beautiful candle I create, there’s a lot more than just creativity — there’s testing, patience, and precision.

Candle testing is one of the most important parts of my process. It’s how I make sure each candle burns evenly, smells just right, and performs safely.

Unfortunately, this candle did not burn properly. Did I use the wrong wick? Was it the new fragrance? I need to do more testing...

Here's my guarantee to you: if a Pretty Natural Portugal candle doesn't burn properly, then simply return the candle and I'll make a new one (differently, of course!). Because you deserve candles that don’t just look good — they work beautifully too 🤍

Por detrás de cada vela bonita que crio, há muito mais do que apenas criatividade — há te**es, paciência e precisão.

Testar as velas é uma das partes mais importantes do meu processo. É assim que garanto que cada vela queima uniformemente, tem o aroma perfeito e funciona em segurança.

Infelizmente, esta vela não queimou corretamente. Será que usei o pavio errado? Será a nova fragrância? Preciso de fazer mais te**es...

Eis a minha garantia para si: se uma vela Pretty Natural Portugal não queimar corretamente, basta devolvê-la e eu farei uma nova (diferente, claro!). Porque merece velas que não só sejam bonitas, como também funcionem maravilhosamente 🤍

In Portugal, love used to be handmade 💘🇵🇹

In Braga and Viana do Castelo, young women embroidered Lenços dos Namorados – love handkerchiefs filled with hearts and sweet messages. If a suitor accepted it, the love was mutual ❤️

And in Guimarães, the charming Cantarinha dos Namorados (small clay jugs) were gifted as part of courtship and proposals.
