Meet our next speaker 🎙️ Daniel Filipe Borges, PhD — Professor & Neurophysiology Specialist, integrated researcher, and a strong voice at the crossroads of rigorous science and human-centered care.
At E2S | P.PORTO and FMUP (RISE-Health | TBIO), Daniel advances clinical neurophysiology with a focus on multimodal and wearable EEG, epilepsy, pre-surgical evaluation, cortical connectivity, and sleep medicine — always turning biosignals into trustworthy, impactful clinical decisions.
With 16 years in Portugal’s NHS (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics), he has supervised 125+ internships and helped multidisciplinary teams adopt best practices in EEG, epilepsy surgery, and sleep diagnostics. In academia since 2006 (E2S|P.PORTO, CESPU-ESSVA, IPC-ESTeSC), he has coordinated 60+ course units, mentored 30+ students, served on 60+ juries, published 10 peer-reviewed papers and 50+ conference works, earned 3 awards, and frequently reviews for Q1/Q2 journals.
He serves on the ILAE Neurotechnology Section (Education & Knowledge TF) and is an active member of the Portuguese societies of Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology & Sleep Medicine, and the Portuguese League Against Epilepsy.
For Daniel, the future of health is personalized, preventive, and participatory — where digital precision walks hand-in-hand with human connection, privacy, fairness, and equity. “Science should serve people, not just data,” he asserts, inspiring the next generation to cultivate resilience and purpose in caring for the most fragile.
