An applause to Yasin Dalowar (.bln_ ) for his final presentation!
On March 8th at 14:00, at UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of University of Porto, Yasin Dalowar, one of our first Erasmus+ interns, showcased the results of his work with Braining during his stay.
In front of a jury that included his supervisor João Ribeiro and esteemed Braining team members (Nuno Almeida, David Rodrigues, and Joana Santos), Yasin presented his groundbreaking contributions to our mission of advancing healthcare through data-driven solutions in his project - “Optimizing Stroke Recovery: A Predictive Model for Personalized Treatment Planning.”
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗬𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲?
👉 Yasin extensively researched stroke-related data and set up a database using the MIMIC-III dataset to filter stroke cases.
👉 He designed and optimized machine learning models to predict patient mortality, significantly improving their accuracy.
👉 His work extended to extracting structured data from clinical notes using Large Language Models (LLMs) and integrating all components into a cohesive pipeline.
👉 He developed a Named Entity Recognition (NER) tool combined with Braining’s specialized OCR pipeline to structure EHR (Electronic Health Records) data, transforming raw clinical text into comprehensible data reports.

Yasin’s commitment, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills earned him an exceptional grade, highlighting the impact of his work on our projects! Beyond his technical accomplishments, his enthusiasm, curiosity, and adaptability made him an invaluable member of the team throughout his internship.
